Pussy Cat Pussy Cat
Sandy and I were lying down face to face this morning. I can feel myself smile as I watch her face and note how peaceful she looks when she’s asleep. All of a sudden, she opened her eyes and without blinking or even stretching, she said,
where’s mommy eating bread and honey?
I thought she was dreaming but her eyes were wide open. She must have seen my face because she laughed and repeated the words.
She was actually referring to the page in her little book called “Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat”. There’s a page there with a drawing of a queen eating bread and honey and she calls the queen mommy. She knows all the words from that book and I didn’t know that she knows until one afternoon when I asked her:
Scene: Sandy entering the room alone
ME: Hey, where have you been?
Sandy: I’ve been to London, to visit the queen.
I didn’t know what to say, really. I tried to think of a reply but I can’t because I’m not sure exactly what she was trying to say. Then I remember the words from her book, “pussy cat, pussy cat, where have you been? I’ve been to london to visit the queen”. It was hilarious! I just can’t stop laughing. My daughter never ceases to amaze me.
Definitely smarter than I thought.
