Me: It’s okay baby, we’ll put medicine so it will go away okay?

Me: Come on, let’s go. I’ll put “bang-eyg” on your aw-aw. (Sandy and I love to play with words. bang-eyg is for band-aid)

Sandy: I don’t like bang-eygggggg. waaaaaaaaaaaahhh

Me: (a bit panicky) What do you want?

Sandy: I don’t like bang-eyggg!!! I want BAND-AID!!!

Me: ahhh, okay. I was just trying to make you laugh.

Sandy: (stopped crying and paused to think) HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

Sobrang peke yung tawa. Mapasaya lang ang ina nya. LOL.

Choosing a Job

A friend of mine who’s in commercial real estate told me how much she’s earning on commission. I was so shocked because the number is about three times of what I’m getting monthly. Of course, it all depends on the number of properties that you can sell but still, it’s enough to send your kid to College and have enough to spend on a 7-day island getaway in Thailand. Now I know why she can afford all those out of the country trips and expensive bags. I should’ve joined the real estate biz instead of designing LOL. But I know I don’t have the talent to sell plus I’ll never be happy not being able to do what I love.

First Bite

The daughter of one of the helpers in our house bit Sandy last night on the hand. I believe they were fighting over this toy brush. The other kid took it while Sandy was playing with it so normally, she will want it back. They chased each other outside then I heard some whining so I followed them in the other room and saw that Sandy was still trying to get the brush. Their backs were turned so I wasn’t sure what they were doing exactly. All of a sudden, Sandy cried so hard while shaking a bit, her right hand stretched outward and peed on the floor. I checked her hand, which she wouldn’t let me touch, and saw deep, red bites just below her thumb. I know it hurt really badly because of the way she cried. I have this sign to look for if she’s really in pain - mouth won’t close, eyes closed tightly, body part not moving. And did I mention that she peed? She already went to the toilet 15 minutes ago so she must felt something really bad to pee again.

I didn’t know how to react about what happened. I know they’re just kids. But she’s my daughter. And she was the one who got hurt. Naiinis talaga ako. But I can’t say anything.

Good Morning

Except for the brownout that lasted an hour in the middle of the night and Sandy’s swollen eye due to cockroach bite, everything is good. As expected I’ve been really busy with assignments, work, sidelines since Sunday as a result of my “4-day vacation”.

Can’t complain. A busy daw at work means they can never survive without you. Start getting nervous when you take a leave for a week and come back to see that there are just a couple of emails for you.

I’ve also blog hopped. Hurray! Noticed that most bloggers have been lazy updating their blogs (you know who you are ;)). Must be busy making babies? Well, goodluck ladies and I wish you all baby #2 this year.

Last Week’s Ordeal

  • Sandy was having projectile vomiting last Monday afternoon so I took her to Makati Med to find out what’s wrong. They discharged her five hours after with orders to make her drink pedialite
    She hasn’t been taking anything for the last five hours so I thought it’s okay to give her a small sip of my iced tea. She threw them up as well.
  • At home, she wasn’t able to take pedialite or any food. Kept on throwing everything up so we decided to bring her to UST where her pedia, also The Husband’s auntie, holds her clinic.
  • We were admitted around 12:30 am and had an IV inserted on my poor little girl. She didn’t cry a lot, perhaps because she was too dehydrated and just didn’t have the strength to fight us.
  • We spent four days after that, monitoring Sandy’s food intake, vomit and poop. It was tiring, stressful and the bed that Sandy and I shared was so high I feel like falling every five minutes.
  • We went home last Friday afternoon. Sandy lost a lot of weight but perfectly okay as I write this.

Things I’m thankful for:

  • Just like what Aggie loves to say, “buti na lang may maxicare”. In our case, it’s Asian Life but you get the picture
  • For big rooms. If we didn’t choose the biggest room, we’d probably have gone crazy trying to “live” in a small space
  • My good kid. Although stubborn, Sandy knew it wasn’t the right time to argue with her parents. She didn’t try to remove her IV, never played with it, and tried her best not to move her “sleeping hand”. She requested twice to have it removed but accepted later on it just won’t happen.
  • Mcdo and KFC
  • Good, dependable yaya. Ate Arlene just made everything easier for us. She’s smart and knows what to do. She also went back and forth from UST to Paranaque to get clothes / stuff and even washed Sandy’s soiled clothes.
  • Family. My mom, brother and Sandy’s cousin Gabby visited. It lifted up Sandy’s spirits and even if she was complaining of pain on her arm, she got all bright and bushy tailed upon seeing her visitors. Sherwin’s mom tried to visit but unfortunately got stuck in an explosion near UST and had to go back home.
  • Understanding clients and bosses. A lot of them said prayers and kept on texting if Sandy’s okay
  • Last but not the least, breastfeeding. I don’t know what I would do without it. Everything is just so much easier, from comforting Sandy to putting her to sleep to making her pain go away.

Redefining Space

The Husband and I had a minor argument last week. The cause? Something as silly as him wanting to re-arrange the furniture inside our room. When he decides to do something, he won’t stop until he gets it done. Good thing I was able to convince him to put it off until next week. I just find it stressful when we’re moving things inside our room, you know. He wants to put a bigger TV rack inside which means we’ll have to re-arrange the corner of our room (his sanctuary) where the TV, stack of DVDs and VCDs are located. Maybe we should get a tv wall mount instead to save space?

Won’t sleep

She’s still awake and refuses to take a nap. To make the most out of my time, (she won’t let me work) I asked her if I could take her photos while she’s playing. You need to ask permission before you take her photo or else she’ll get all cranky. She said “okay” so I practiced while she’s making a huge mess in the hallway.

She still loves to play in her kitchen. Only this time, she cooks anything but toy food - her babies, Barbies, musical instruments and more. (See the car on the stove?)

We’ve already played with almost all of her toys (we’re talking about four baskets here) and she still wouldn’t sleep so I called her yaya so I can get some work done. Which is why here I am, blogging instead of working, LOL.

Little Town

I stumbled upon Tricia’s post today and learned that they purchased a condo unit last year. I’ve long ago accepted the fact that condo living is not for us but I still can’t help being interested when I saw that one of the proposed amenities is a “little town”. Like Tricia, I love the idea of the proposed giant dollhouses that I can already imagine Sandy playing there all day and all night LOL. She sent me the presentation via email, which I’m still unable to open. And that’s just how far my curiosity goes. I’ve had enough of real estate developers for now after dealing with so many of them last year.
