Sleeping Time
Every night, The Husband tells Sandy this story about the bees (Barry, Billy, Bob). When they’re done and Sandy’s satisfied with the ending, Sandy will lie down beside me. We will then tell her to pray to Papa Jesus.
Just a backgrounder, she gets colds whenever she plays with dusty furniture/toys/curtains. She loves to play with the blinds beside her bed and most often than not, she’ll sneeze and have a runny nose in two to three hours.
So here’s her prayer last night. I didn’t tell her what to say, by the way. When she prays, it was like she’s really talking to Jesus. She sometimes tells HIM stories about her day or explains why she needs something.
Sandy: In the name of the father, and of the son and of the holy spiwit, amen.
Papa Jesus, please make me well. Please make my sipon go away.
Please clean the blinds.
When mama says “Sandy! Don’t touch the blinds. The blinds is dirty!”
Papa: (always ready to correct Sandy’s grammar) ARE! Say ‘are’.
Sandy: When mama says “The blinds ARE dirty”.
Papa Jesus will say “No, the blinds are clean”.
The Husband and I were laughing so hard here while Sandy continues to pray.
Sandy: Please bless my (insert all family members here and toys).
Sandy: Good night Papa Jesus, sleep well. I love you. Amen
As soon as she’s done, she’ll say:
Sandy: Mommy, massage my back.
Sandy: Mommy, like this. (she’ll demonstrate how I should knead her shoulders). Then put your left hand on my foot, your right hand on my back.
Sandy: Sing anything mommy.
ME: What do you want?
Sandy: About the rainbows, somewhere. (Somewhere over the rainbow)
O di ba, kumpleto instructions. While I massage her, I need to sing as well (somewhere over the rainbow, moon river, ugoy ng duyan, twinkle twinkle, today, etc.). With both hands occupied, I have nothing left to do but hope that she’ll sleep on her own. She’s been sleeping on her own for two weeks straight now, thank God.

I had fun reading this. It’s nice to know that Sandy really prays nuh? I want to instill this to Dustin too kaya every night we pray din, nakakatuwa kasi ngayon when we say in the name of the Father, he makes a sign of the cross kaso laging sa forehead lang yung right hand nya hanggang sabihin namin ang Amen where he puts his hands together. Aliw di ba?
Tapos yung rainbows, somewhere! That’s really funny! Naintindihan mo naman eh!
