On Parenting Articles

When you’re a first time mom, any kind of help is very much appreciated. Whether it’s from well-meaning relatives, friends, baby books or the Internet, I’m always thankful for extra knowledge. After all, what would I know about raising a child if I haven’t had any. And with the technology today, you can find out almost anything that you need just by logging in online. I’ve been a member of several parenting sites and blogs already but only recently came across Gurgle.com. My Sandy started school last year so I was reading all that I can to prepare myself and Sandy for school. That was when I saw the article How to cope with preschool illnesses from Gurgle. It was pretty helpful and just in time because Sandy got lice from her cousin. I was shocked at first to see her baby scalp filled with lice but luckily, it only took one session of fast acting shampoo to clear them all. Since then, I’ve asked everyone in the house to always use their own comb so this will never happen again. Of course, that’s just one of the things that she can get from school.

Another article that I want to share with you is this – Dealing with Tantrums. We’ve all experienced it and sometimes, it’s always easier to give in. But according to the article, there are two types of tantrums. One is when they become frustrated because of their inability to do things. You can deal with this kind of tantrum by patiently helping your child with whatever it is that he wants to do. The other kind is where they deliberately disobey rules to seek attention. Here you need to make them understand the consequences of their actions. Just to give you a summary, the article tackled four methods of dealing with tantrums – supporting, ignoring, time-out and getting angry (which usually never really helps at all).
