Father’s Day Celebration – Conti’s Pastry Shop & Restaurant

A continuation of my one month birthday celebration. After that sumptuous meal at Myron’s place, I found myself wanting to eat at Conti’s. We thought we’d just stay in last Father’s day because I was working and The Husband was too tired. But he woke up form his nap at 4PM and suddenly asked me where I wanted to go. I love eating out so much that even though I have tons of stuff to do, I turned my laptop off and got ready to eat at Conti’s.

The place is always packed so I decided to call and asked if they can reserve a table. They couldn’t because they are on a first come, first serve basis. I was getting pretty antsy by the time we arrived at Serendra because I’m afraid that Conti’s will be full. I’m just too lazy to find another restaurant, learn their menus, wonder if they are any good. Luckily, we snagged the 2nd spot on their waiting list so we were seated in no time.

Pastel de Lengua for me. (A bit disappointed with it. I was expecting the creaminess of lengua from CCME. ) Choco Walnut tortefor dessert.

We ordered Seafood Casserole and Philly Cheesesteak to go for my mother-in-law and brother-in-law. I should’ve been full but I didn’t enjoy the Choco Walnut torte that much. I had to give their pastries another shot by ordering mango bravo. It was good, as expected from a mango flavored cake. Even Sandy liked it.

That’s about it for last weekend. Hope you all had a great one!

Wordless Wednesday – Can I Draw?

IMG_8016 IMG_8078

Not so wordless today. I’ve accepted a long time ago that it will take years before I can enjoy a long, nice, quiet meal with The Husband. So imagine my surprise when I realized that it’s actually possible now, thanks to art materials. Her favorite activity now is go to a not so crowded restaurant and draw. As soon as we’re done ordering, she’ll ask “Can I draw now?”

My Birthday Celebration

Sharing some pictures from my birthday celebration :) No, I didn’t get an LV nor a heart pendant jewelry but I did receive a handwritten love letter from The Husband and a very nicely drawn Birthday Card from Sandy.

At the last minute, we’ve decided against hotel buffets. So I searched online for the best steak restaurant in Makati and found two options – Myron’s Place at Greenbelt 5 or Melo’s at Greenbelt 1. I chose Myron’s because I just love Greenbelt 5 and just before I logged off from Twitter, I read Kelly’s tweet suggesting we should try Myron’s too.

I regret that I didn’t take enough photos of the place because I really like how well lighted it was. When we entered the restaurant, Sandy got excited upon seeing my name on the table and kept whispering in a loud voice “Mommy, it’s J-O-Y. That means it’s our table!! I love this place!”. And I couldn’t agree more. Aside from two caucasians having lunch, we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The Husband was in heaven too because you know how he hates crowded places. I’m sure the price have to do with it but when we received our bill, I was so pleasantly surprised that it’s exactly the same amount that we paid on my last birthday at Verbena, Discovery in Tagaytay. Except this time, the food was so great and so many that we even had left overs for dinner.

After our much enjoyed lunch, we went to Ayala Museum. It’s my birthday after all and I’ve been planning to go there for as long as I can remember. I was a bit disappointed on the number of paintings on the third floor but the diorama section blew me away. I am literally close to tears while The Husband (thank God for my very own tour guide) told stories after stories about our heroes – from Rizal to Mabini to Ninoy. I admit I never really paid attention to History while I was in school but now I just can’t get enough of it.

But back to happy thoughts. Sandy loved the museum and we would’ve signed up for the stencil activity that afternoon but we got hungry (yes, after all that meat and fat from lunch) so we went to Cafe Breton to eat some crepes.

You would think we’re so full that we won’t have to eat dinner anymore but nah. With our leftovers from lunch, (steak, wagyu burger) The Husband ordered a veggie pizza for “side dish”. I probably gained a lot over the weekend but who cares, I can always diet next week :) . More to come!

Caribbean Trip?

We still have not gone on with that family vacation we have been planning for since February. The weather has been unpredictable lately that it would just ruin our moods and waste time and money spent if we went ahead and it just rained. It doesn’t stop me from looking at great travel deals and amazing travel locations. I found out that there is a line of hotel resorts called Karisma Hotels along the Riviera Maya in the Caribbean that has a family-oriented resort – Azul Beach Hotel Resort! It is on a beautiful stretch of the Bahia Pentempich beach in Puerto Moreles, re-opened this season after being completely redesigned, and is the first boutique all-inclusive resort. With just 98 rooms, a gourmet-inclusive dining philosophy and many family-friendly amenities, Azul Beach Hotel offers families a new way to vacation. Parents are pampered with adult-sized indulgences as well as extras like strollers, cribs, baby milk heaters, beach games, coloring books, refrigerators for milk and medicines, and even kid-sized bathrobes.

Jewelry Talk

I met with some of my girlfriends last week. Since we all love accessories, I told them about Holsted Jewelers, my latest favorite fashion jewelry website. This was after we went from one jewelry shop to another, hopelessly trying to find an affordable cocktail ring. We found several cheap ones but they look cheap too! Hence, the visit to holstedjewelers.com. What I like about their styles is that they look high-end without really putting a dent on your wallet. Well, at least not as big as what I’m expecting to pay. They sell various kinds of accessories from fashion, stone, metal, sets and bridal. It’s not only for women though because you can find lots of gifts ideas for your man on their Gift and Accessories section.

Birthday / Father’s Day Plans

If you’re reading my other blog, you’d know that it’s only a matter of two days before I say goodbye to my twenties. I usually feel depressed about it but now I’m embracing it. My dreams are starting to come true after all and the most important thing is that Sandy’s fever is totally gone. Thanks to the well wishers :) I don’t think I can enjoy my birthday if my number one fan is sick.

So for our weekend plans, I want a small shopping spree, pigging out sessions (still choosing between Spirals or Circles buffet) and a full body massage. The weather messed up our Baguio plans and the hotels in Makati are all booked so might as well spend all our budget on good food. For Father’s day, we’ll probably eat out again (what else!) while Sandy, I’m sure will lavish her Papa with praises. She’s a Papa’s girl now and even made her Papa a card without me telling her! I was so surprised when I heard her say “Papa this is a Father’s card for you”. The “card” has a drawing of her and her Papa with some letter stamps. It was so cute because she made it on her own and didn’t even ask for my help. Too bad she didn’t make one for my birthday!! But she gives me so many closed lip kisses that lasts for 15-20 seconds everyday so that’s enough for me.

Have a great weekend everyone and wash your hands everywhere you go!

Sick Girl and Sleepless Nights

My poor baby is sick. Yesterday she came home from school with a very bad cold. This morning, she woke up at 6AM with a high fever. Thanks to tempra and sponge bath, it went down and I was able to put her back to sleep around 10. So far, she’s doing okay and still eats every 15 minutes.

My other laptop is acting up. I think I need to upgrade my computer memory soon. It’s about time too because we only use it for downloading all kinds of stuff overnight. Good thing computer memories don’t cost an arm and leg anymore these days. The downside is it’s even way cheaper if I decide to re-sell my old one.

I’m having trouble sleeping at night. No matter how tired I am or how long I’ve been working all day, sleep eludes me. So not only am I tired after a long day, but I’m also exhausted after tossing and turning for hours at night. I know I need a vacation but where can we go when it’s raining everywhere!

I hope this weekend will be much better, it is my birthday after all. :)
