Someone Needs to Catch Up on Sleep
Sleep eludes me lately. No matter what I do, my brain refuses to cooperate with my body. I’m lucky I don’t get skin breakouts and never needed acne treatment my whole life. That’s one less thing to worry about. I am dead tired every night and yet my mind is so awake and so alive you can watch a movie inside it. I blame it on my current project (portfolio site), watching too many movies on my iPod and reading small text using my phone’s e-book reader. My ideas for my project kept pouring in my head even when I’m at my sleepiest.
If I wasn’t tired, I’d probably turn on my computer and start drawing pretty pictures. As for the movies and books when I should be resting, well, what can I say? I’ve gotten so used to sleepless nights that I get bored waiting for sleep to come. Plus putting Sandy to sleep at night is not exactly easy as she tosses, turns, talks to her imaginary friends, plays with her invisible hang nails, smiles at you in the dark. So while waiting, I read my ebooks that by the time she’s asleep, I’m wide awake again. It’s exactly the same thing when she was a newborn. Except now she has longer legs, kicks a lot and takes a bigger space.
I wish for an out of town trip but where can you go when it’s raining all the time?
Fish Ponds
My cousin is now looking into having a fish pond in her garden. She said not only it will make her alread immaculate house beautiful, but it will also bring luck as well. Being a good cousin that I am, I’m helping her research for pond pumps, plant supplies, weed control and filters. I am surprised to see that they are not expensive at all. Maybe we can do something like this for my mother-in-law’s house but I’ll have to check first how hard the cleaning process will be. I know The Husband finds it therapeutic when he cleans his fish tanks but I doubt he’ll feel the same when it comes to ponds.

Hot Mommas – Just Walking Around
While sorting through emails about work, online toy store discounts, diet pill reviews, and hot properties in the metro, I came across a link for Celebrity Moms. I won’t name them anymore as you probably know all of them better than I do. But I have to say, these celebrity mommies really work it. I wonder if they have nannies hiding in their homes? Most of them claim that they are hands-on moms, which probably explains how they lost their post-pregnancy weight that fast, but still. With auditions, concerts and TV shows left and right, how do they manage at all? Of course, since their work requires that they have amazing body and flawless skin, you can add working out hours and spa treatments to the list as well.
Sandy Talks
I am ending the work week with some of Sandy’s ridiculous, sweet and most of the time, funny comments.
Smelling something bad:
“Did you fart? No, don’t talk about it, it’s rude.”
As a host:
“Ladies and gentlemen! Someone will perform, the next show is called Papa, the guitar boy!!!”
“Preseeeeentiiiiiing. A band called ABBA. They will sing Dancing Queen. Besides, they are very good.” (she likes using the word besides lately)
Caring daughter:
“Oh no mommy, you have holes on your shirts? Why? Don’t worry I will buy you new ones okay?”
Pacifier:
“I don’t like your angry voice. Don’t be angry at me, be nice.”
Hearing someone shouting/crying/making a lot of noise: without looking at it she’ll say …
“Ignore it, it’s none of our business.”
Stomachache:
“Aw-aw tummy mommyyyyy”
“How about some maalox, maybe it might help?”
(And this when she feels like we’re getting worried and wondering if we should go to the hospital)
When her yaya or Tito RV plays with her roughly:
“Stop it! I will put you in jail!”
And last but not the least.
“Mommy, you are the best mommy in the whole world. Difficult to open.”
(whatever that is)
Why I Love Twitter
These are the reasons why Twitter is amazing.
I can read updates about my old friends, co-workers, even old bosses. It’s how I learned about my boss moving to a new loft. His latest tweet was about moving companies Los Angeles and how he’s starting to build his business again.
Gossip everywhere! Just follow E! Online, Perez Hilton and similar twitter accounts and be updated with the latest news on Hollywood. Better yet, follow celebrities such as Oprah, Ashton, Britney Spears, Lilo, Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer and many more.
I have two twitter accounts – one for networking and one for personal use which is private and for long-time blogger friends only. This way, I can separate personal comments/posts from my more technology-design-work-related tweets.
Did I say networking? You bet! I’ve had two design offers so far just by tweeting that I design websites. Amazing huh?
Learning new things everyday. From design trends to latest gadgets, to world news and money-making schemes, I get it all from Twitter. I only do my site hopping using twitter now so if you have something to say, better get one!
Wordless Wednesday – Crepes, Yeah!
You’ve probably seen this before but I’m re-posting it just because Sandy is so adorable here.
Weekend Round-Up
Friday night: A quick ER trip to Medical City because Sandy’s fever won’t go below 37.5. Her results show that her fever was caused by viral infection but that we’ll have to bring her back if it doesn’t go away in two days. I really like Medical City than Makati Med. They are more organized plus there are lots of places where you can hangout while waiting for results. We spent our Friday night at Starbucks with two tween magazines, one mocha frappe, one iced chocolate, banofee pie and cinnamon swirls.
Saturday: She still had low grade fever but eating well. The Husband decided not to push through with his plans (a photo shoot with our dear friend Z) and we just stayed home watching TV, eating and sleeping. It was a perfect Saturday, except I was a bit worried about Sandy’s fever. Her ears were red as I check her temperature every 10 minutes but I just can’t help myself. I wanted to make sure that her fever is really gone before I decide to meet my girlfriends the next day.
Sunday: Sandy’s fever was totally gone but instead of having her come with us to do our grocery shopping, we just let her rest at home. The Husband and I went to Rustan’s then he left me in Glorietta so I can meet with my girlfriends. After a quick bite at Krispy Kreme, we then went to Wensha where we had the cheapest and most relaxing afternoon. It was amazing and I would love to go back there again.
When I came home, Sandy was lying down and ignoring me. According to her Papa and yaya’s reports, her fever is gone but she now has a bad cold. It never ends. Sigh.
She’s absent for the 4th time now. I had her yaya go to school and ask for some homework so Sandy can continue with her lessons.
Quick Update Before the Week Ends
The little one is sick. Her fever is up and down since Wednesday morning but today was the highest. I’m hoping it’s because she’s about to get well. It’s what usually happens when her temp reaches 39-39.8 degree Celsius. If it doesn’t go down today, we might go to the doctor tomorrow morning. I hope there won’t be any need for that. My brother-in-law and her cousin Chloe were both sick last weekend when they went to our house. I believe they’re fine now so we should be good. I hope, for the third time.
I am trying to squeeze in some work time as much as I can while she feels good and taking a break from all her naps. In two hours, I’ll turn off my laptop again and forcer her to sleep. When she’s sick like this, all I want to do is carry her in my arms. I don’t care if she’s heavy, we sit on the bed anyway, but I just want her to feel comfort. I’m an adult but I still want my mother when all my muscles are aching from fever.
