The Birthday Girl is Okay
Sandy is okay, thank God. We spent four days switching hospitals (Makati Med and Medical City) to have her blood checked. They had to monitor her platelet count because although it was still under the normal range, it has a downward trend. Her fever was gone by Saturday and basing from what I read and see about Dengue, that’s when we should look for signs. Her platelet count was still down up to Sunday which is also when her rashes appeared. With our bags packed, we went to Medical City hoping for the worse but thankfully, her platelet count went up. I was ready for the worst but a part of me knows she won’t be admitted seeing how active Sandy is. She still eats and gets hungry every hour and being her usual talkative self. The stress/sleepless nights/worry was still too much though. The Husband and I gained weight I’m sure. Since we want to make sure that Sandy eats well, The Husband and I eat with her all the time – 6 meals (including snacks) for the past four days.
Now we’re making sure that Sandy gets enough rest. She won’t be coming to school until Friday which will be her post-birthday party.
And speaking of party, we did celebrate hers last Friday. We had mechado and pork and mushrooms (my mom cooked), ordered fried chicken from KFC (Sandy’s fave), pancit malabon and cake.
A few hours before we have her birthday dinner, we gave her Dolan (Ibuprofen) to lessen her muscle aches. Five minutes after taking it, her eyes got all swollen and it was all I could do not to cringe when looking at her. It’s really scary-looking and no mother would want to see something like that on her child. Good thing she didn’t seem to be feeling any discomfort as she still laughs and talks about her favorite shows while I fuss over her.
Here she is an hour after taking Allerkid. The swelling have subsided a little and I was really glad to see that even with fever, she’s still a happy kid.
After dinner. Her fever went down for the first time so she was more active. Of course, it all came back the day after which was when we found out that her platelet went down again.
With grandma Olive.

glad everything’s well. don’t give her ibuprofen anymore. madami akong kilala na allergic to this (my dad, brother, and gats) paracetamol talaga safest.
