Trick or Treating 2009 – Shangrila Edsa

If you’re a frequent visitor of my flickr, you’ve probably seen all these.

We went trick or treating with cousin Chloe and Lucas last Saturday at Shangrila Edsa mall. Ate Gabby was supposed to go too but I wasn’t able to contact my brother if he’ll let Gabby come. There’s a Php500 fee per kid and you need to buy the tickets from the mall.

Sandy wouldn’t go as anyone but Harry Potter. Thanks to my mom who repaired her Grim Reaper robe and SM Makati for all the supplies – glasses, necktie, school shirt and DIY wand, she got her dream costume.

Things I liked this year.
Not too crowded and no outsiders. They really have a limit on the number of kids who are trick or treating. If you don’t have an ID, you can’t visit the shops. It’s not stressful at all and the kids even had time to go window shopping.

Lots of freebies – free pumpkin, food carts (popcorn, smoothies, hotdogs, nuggets, cotton candy, ice cream), free carousel ride, photo booth, bag tag with your picture and a Halloween shoulder bag filled with more goodies – candies and toys.

To make it more organized, Shangrila divided the 250 kids in 4 or 5 groups. Each group has a list of stores that they can visit. This means you can’t visit any shops that are not in the list. This is the only downside because we only get to visit a total of 20 shops. Unlike in Rockwell, you can visit as many shops as you can.

Boo.

Sandy and I are both sick. So updates will have to wait.

Cost of Health

I’ve been receiving too many health insurance leads lately. It’s like a constant reminder that someone in the family will get sick soon. Luckily, we have a very nice health plan from The Husband’s company so we’re all good. We can choose from any hospital that we like which is usually Medical City (because Sandy likes their Starbucks) or Makati Med (because of the location, not expertise/service). If you don’t have health insurance though, I highly encourage you to get one. You’d be surprised on how much you can save simply by paying a low premium annually.

United Nations Day 2009

Let me blog about Sandy’s United Nations Day before I go search for rack mount online. I tend to procrastinate when it comes to updating so I better do this now while I have time.

Sandy’s country was Netherlands but we couldn’t find a costume for her. We would’ve if we shopped early but I was so sure we’ll find something in SM. And since we only had two days before the event, we decided to let her wear one of her not-so-modern dresses and buy an apron and hat/hair cover. We did find a Rag Doll costume though and after comparing it with the Holland / Netherland costumes online, we bought it. The socks were too cute to leave at home so I asked her to wear them too. Of course, she looked more like a rag doll but what the heck!

She had a minor allergy attack before we left the house. I was close to making her stay home but after a dose of Allerkid, she got excited and wanted to wear her hat again. She was sneezing the whole time – from the parade to their dance number even when they were having parlor games. I was starting to feel bad for her because how will she enjoy anything if she has to sneeze every 10 seconds? But she said she was “having much fun” when I asked her for the Nth time that day.

They danced “Nobody but you” and sang “Heal the World”. I didn’t have photos because I was taking videos at the time. All I can say is she looks like she was just going through the motions haha. She knows all the moves but obviously, she was just doing it to make me happy! When her Papa asked if she had fun, she said yes. But then she also said, “I like drawing better.”

Sandy and Chloe – ABBA / Models

These two love to model. It was actually Chloe who loved to pose but she influenced her ate Sandy to pose as well. And with their mutual love for ABBA, it’s no surprise that their favorite poses were of Agnetha and Anna Freid (the girls from ABBA.)

Sandy is in her element when she’s with cousin Chloe. I sometimes wish that Chloe still lives with us so they won’t miss each other anymore.

Just Me and Sandy

Sharing a photo of me and Sandy. Just want to post a photo of her before I start my Monday.

Too Many Photos

… to download and share. I have limited computer time right now though so I can’t do something about it. Life has been pretty busy (which explains the photos) but work has been good as well. I feel blessed and now working extra hard to show my clients that they didn’t make a mistake in getting my services. And since I’ve been working very hard, I’ve been neglecting my diet and exercise too. I’m not heavy at all but I just don’t know how to lose belly fat.

Anyway, let me make this list so I wouldn’t forget:

Sandy and Chloe’s short ‘modeling stint’ at home. These two like to model a lot! We went trick or treating yesterday and they weren’t interested on the treats but instead, they were too busy choosing shoes for each other!

Sandy’s United Nation Day. She didn’t have a proper Netherlands costume but she looked cute nonetheless. In my opinion of course haha.

Sandy and Chloe and Lucas’ trick or treating at Shangrila Edsa. Lots of really cute photos which I really hope I can post before November!

Just some everyday shots with my little princess.

Wedding Thank You Cards

Wedding Thank You Cards

Isn’t this the cutest? I keep seeing really nice Thank You Cards like this from the CardsPersonalized website. It may be more applicable as baby thank you cards but would fit well in a more informal wedding party too.

Looking at http://www.cardspersonalized.com right now, I’ve decided to send out business thank you cards to my old-time clients before the year ends. Read more

Sandy: What is Internet?

Mommy, what is Internet?

This was what Sandy asked me a couple of minutes ago. I had a ready answer but then I stopped myself. I was in the middle of designing something and couldn’t afford to lose focus. I know that when I say something as simple as “Internet lets you see web sites or check email”, she’ll say “What is a web site?” or “What is email?” and so on.

So I just said, “Well, Internet is what I use for work.” Very vague and no room for more questions.

To which she replied, “Or maybe you use the Internet for finding clients? And sending emails? And sometimes you talk to people with your headphone?”

Sometimes I underestimate her. ;)

Warm Coats for the Bambina

Before I search for acne treatment, let me share with you this great news. Well, at least for an online shopping addict like me.

Old Navy and Gap are on sale! You’ll love their collections and the items on sale. Check them out now.

I want to buy these for Sandy but I know I can only choose one (or two?) ;) . Christmas is near after all and we need to save badly for presents, parties/dinners, Christmas shows and more Christmas shopping.
