Healthy Living

Looking the best vitamins for men? Me too, well The Husband that is. He’s just so tired all the time even on weekends when we get to sleep in and have naps in the afternoon. I’m positive it has something to do with his diet. At least now he’s doing his best to exercise by hitting the treadmill every other day. Aside from vitamins or supplements, we’re thinking of staying away from pork and beef starting next week. It should be easy except thinking about different kinds of dishes for fish and chicken can get pretty tricky.

More

The Husband just reminded me of the things that I need to budget in the next three months. Most of them have to do with our car making me think that we really need to find another option for our insurance. Know the cheapest car insurance? Email me! I know how important it is, we’re still paying for it, aren’t we? But I think we can do with a cheaper package. I learned from other friends that theirs are much cheaper but probably it’s because their vehicles are newer. I’m thinking we’ll have to upgrade soon too because of the latest addition in the family.

Happy New Year!

IMG_0254

Our New Year was simple – with only my mom as guest. Still, we were feeling much better (both Sandy and I) and we enjoyed the fireworks a lot. Time passed quickly this time that Sandy didn’t have time to get cranky because it was getting late and there weren’t any fireworks yet. After watching UP with her Grandma (my mom), we went downstairs and welcomed 2010.

A very Happy New Year for Sandy. :)

Full House Christmas

Aside from my brother-in-law and his family, some of The Husband’s relatives from Tondo spent Christmas eve with us. So yes, it’s a full house. And Christmas has never been this busy, noisy and happy. I’m just sucker for big families like the ones from the movie Home Alone.

Some photos of my pretty princess first. :)

Sandy and Chloe were both tired, cranky and sleepy by 11PM. Everything changed of course when the opening of gifts came.

Some of Sandy’s loots. She received lots of Barbies and Bratz this year.

We weren’t able to take photos of our dinner because of the chaos. I was actually lucky that The Husband took time in setting up the camera for our family photos. Christmas day was then spent at home, with my lying down most of the time and eating every hour. ;)

Out of Towners

We wanted to go out of town before New Year but couldn’t find a big place that can accommodate three families at the last minute. Most were fully booked so we decided to just stay at home. I wanted something similar to the properties in Outer Banks vacation rentals website. Minimum of four bedrooms with a pool and a nice view for picture taking.

Some entertainment activities would be good too. After all, the reason we go out of town is to have fun and relax. And with kids in tow, you must be armed with activities and games so they won’t get bored and ruin the much-needed vacation.

Breastfeeding Diet

I saw a couple of photos of myself when Sandy was only around 8 or 9 months old. I was shocked to see how thin I am even though I remember how I used to eat up to three plates of rice a day. Then I remember. Because Sandy has plenty of allergies when she was younger and I was still breastfeeding, I avoid all kinds of dairy and meat to make sure that she won’t get any of them. No need for best weight loss supplements when you’re in my situation. Seriously. Breastfeeding can definitely help you lose weight but if your diet was like mine, you can be sure that you will return to your old body in seven or eight months tops. Of course, it would be much better if Sandy didn’t have allergies back then. She’d probably be a much happier baby – sleeps longer, eats whatever she wants and healthier. Which is why for our second baby, I don’t really care if it will be a boy or a girl as long as she doesn’t have cross-milk allergy and she’s very healthy.

Christmas Eve Lunch with my Family

We had a very busy and full house last Christmas Eve. My brother and I decided not to go my parent’s house on Christmas day and just have lunch at Dampa on the 24th. Dampa was my idea because I’ve been dying to eat baked mussels and shrimp with garlic and butter ever since I became pregnant. While waiting for my brother and family at my father’s house, I was happy to see some of my “baby” nieces. They are all so grown up and one is already planning what course to take in College. It made me feel old (as always) because I can still remember how I used to carry her when she was a baby.

Anyway, it’s so rare that our whole family is in one place so that Christmas eve lunch was pretty special for me.

These photos reminded me so much of our family photo when I got married, except Sandy and Adrienne (latest addition) weren’t present. Sherwin wasn’t in the photo because he had to be the photographer. And this is a bit off-topic but I love how pregnancy makes my skin clear. If you want to be acnefree totally, I suggest you get pregnant! ;)

I really hope we can have more get-togethers like this. :)

Elbow Grease

I’m finding the debates on exercise quite entertaining. You have people who back up a zero-effort approach to weight loss via supplements and diets; then you have the gym rats who propose practically devoting every single moment of your free time to shaping up; and those who standby genetics, citing real health, not just the appearance of it, is what counts the most. I guess I lean towards groups 2 and 3. There’s no way you can simple drink some diet pills or some shake that claims to be a muscle builder and then wait for the change to happen. Not judging anyone here, just saying there’s no silver bullet. Drink your protein shakes and whatnot, then go for a run.

Personal Garage Makeover

Wow, this garage makeover is just amazing!

I like how they covered the garage floor and added storage to the walls. It now holds jars and small shelves to hold not so big items while the other wall holds bigger equipments such as garden hose, ladder and other gardening tools. If you’ll look at the last photo, the garage now resembles the interior of a home with its newly fitted windows letting ample light into the room, some books, a high chair and more cabinets for storage.

Seek and Destroy

Maybe I didn’t do things the right way, but I tried finding out how the keywords “weight loss products” ranked as far as last year’s top search terms went, and was surprised to find that it didn’t do too well. I wasn’t expecting this, what with how more health-conscious people have become as of late. Looking at some of the top searches, however, reveals why diets took a back seat last year: Michael Jackson, stimulus package, Obama, climate change, and Jon & Kate Gosselin. Heh.
