The Red Sole
The first time that I saw a pair of christian louboutin shoes was from Katie Holmes.
She loves them so much that she even had a custom-made pair for Suri. So fab but such a waste considering toddlers grow feet like every week. Here’s another photo of Katie wearing a pair of patent mary janes-type of flats.
Would you believe something as simple could cost $525? Still, some people just can’t resist that trademark red sole which is why these shoes sell like hot cakes.
Mother’s Day Gifts
Mother’s day is just around the corner. I have no idea what to give to my mom or my mother-in-law aside from beauty products. If I can find the best eye cream for wrinkles, I know they would just love it. Women love to receive beauty treatments and creams and there’s no way one would feel offended. After all, we all know that by the time we reach our 20s, taking care of our skin is a must. I could also get some spa certificates but seeing how busy they both are, I doubt if they’ll have time to go to one.
Easy Face Care
I’m tired of trying natural remedies to get rid of blackheads. None of them really ever worked, reminding me of this commercial of two young girls who tried everything from cereals to cucumbers yet ended up with not only blackheads but sticky faces. Is there really a proven solution without having to go the dermatologists? I’m looking for a solution for The Husband by the way and he hates having his skin pricked. I bought him several pore strips but read somewhere that it’s not good for the skin. In fact, it makes pores bigger but boy we just love to see the blackheads and white heads sticking out from the strip no matter how icky it seems.
Sandy’s Moving up Day 2010 – Nursery Level
Our big baby, Sandy.
Last week was their moving up day and it was one of the most exciting events of my life as a mom. Why? It’s because she was asked to do a speech for being the most outstanding student in her class. Aside from that, she was also Best in Science and Most Observant (same as last year
)
Her first award – Most Observant in class.
It was her Papa who went up the stage with her whenever she receives a medal for academics.
Best in Science award
Most Outstanding in class – Nursery
After the most outstanding awards, they were asked to remain on stage so they can do their speech. I was glad because at least The Husband would be near her just in case she didn’t want to speak.
But it turned out I didn’t have to worry at all. She was so eager to make her speech and I thought my heart would burst when she began saying “Good afternoon, everyone.” in a loud and clear voice. She wasn’t used to holding a microphone but she never made a mistake and she spoke proudly, as if she really enjoyed giving a speech.
After recognition, the kids danced and sang “If We Hold on Together”. Unlike last year when Sandy barely opened her mouth, she gave her best this year. I never knew what my mom felt like whenever I’m on stage until I experienced it myself with Sandy. There’s pride, excitement, a bit of nervousness and joy. I just want to go up on stage and hug her for being Sandy.
They took a 15-minute break and then got dressed for their 2nd presentation – the musical.
She got sick before their moving up day so she wasn’t able to join the final dance. But looking at the photos above during their first dance, I could see that she’s really different from last year. Look at her jump, smile and have fun with her classmates. I just couldn’t be any prouder.
Opposite of Cover Up
No matter how much men try to prevent hair loss, it still depends on your genes. I know two guy friends who started showing their high hairlines when they were in their late twenties. What they did is just sport a semi-bald haircut which turned our to be really good. Not only it made the receding hairline less pronounced but the hairstyle made them look better. Just imagine Michael Scofield or Brad Pitt in Ocean’s 12. Still, it depends on your face shape and your weight. Just because a haircut looks great on someone else that it won’t look like crap on you.
Black Friday Deals
Don’t you just love Black Friday deals from Buy.com? I know I do! It’s the only way that I can afford expensive gadgets without burning a hole in my pocket. I’ve seen laptop prices there being slashed from $850 to $450. That’s a load of savings which gives you plenty of extra to buy more stuff. That is always the case when I’m buying electronics. Aside from purchasing that one oh-so-pricey item, you need to allot a budget for protection, cleaning, maintenance and accessories too. If you’re lucky though, these things come as freebies so better check out the deals every Monday and Friday.
Napping with Sandy
Today I spent the whole afternoon lying down beside Sandy. She didn’t want to sleep so while she whisper stories and do all sorts of shapes with her fingers, I read Lovely Bones. By 2:30PM, the book was starting to depress and bore me at the same time. I noticed she was still awake so I got angry and told her she couldn’t watch her favorite show (Chloe’s Closet) anymore. As fast as lightning, she stopped moving, probably pretending to fall asleep. But when I checked, I saw that she really was sleeping.
I was momentarily at peace, just watching her with her mouth half-open. I got guilty too for getting mad when she has been nothing but a perfect daughter for months. I embraced her and knew that I will miss these moments when it’s just me, Sandy and the quiet hum of the air-conditioner. I fell asleep for a few minutes and woke up as if I couldn’t get enough of my firstborn. And since her show is about to start, I wasn’t worried about waking her up when I placed her head on my shoulder and turned her body towards me. She automatically hugged my huge stomach and encased my left thigh with her legs. It’s so rare that we get to embrace each other like this. It’s one of those priceless moments when you just couldn’t ask for more. Well except hope that she’ll do it even when she’s awake. Just like her mom, she’s very busy with all kinds of activities – her drawings, TV shows, books and toys to sit still and have a hug longer than 5 seconds with her mama and papa.
Shopping for Outerwear
I came across this perforated jacket from an urban clothing online store. I’ve always wanted a leather jacket but the most I’ve seen are either so expensive OR look cheap if they are within my budget. No surprise there actually. However, this perforated jacket by New World Creation that I saw costs $100 but is currently on sale at $29.99. I know I sound crazy shopping for jackets when the weather is just freaking hot. But if you know me, I always shop 2-3 months early knowing shipping here could take as long as one and a half month to two months tops. So yeah, this one would be perfect for Christmas and hopefully, my post-pregnancy weight will be gone by then.
Lots of Stuff to Blog About
So let me just make a list before I forget.
1. Sandy’s speech
2. Sandy’s moving up day / musical performance
3. Lunch at Sentro and toy shopping for Sandy
4. My pregnancy update. I’m so huge now.
5. How happy I am that I am staring at 16 pcs of cream puff from Tinapayan
There’s more of course, but who wants to hear about how much a loser I am for waiting until the last minute before booking a beach resort. Now we have nowhere to go except Punta Fuego on April.
I’ve also started researching and writing for blogs. My latest sideline is to research on exposed acne treatment for a client’s beauty blog. Aside from that, I also received several design requests that should be enough to meet my semi-annual quota. I’m so happy with all the blessings and good news that we’ve been receiving ever since we found out about baby #2. She really is our lucky charm, just like her Ate Sandy.
Things You’re Looking Forward to in 2010
This may be a good post for January but just want to do it now since I have tons of plans for this year.
Shopping for baby #2. No, she has no name yet but I could already see her outfits, mittens and booties, the matching bedding and her bath accessories. It’s just not me who’s excited, but the big Ate too! Buying things for her baby sister is all she can talk about these days.
Losing 70% my pregnancy weight by September or November. I probably need to browse through the www.weightlosspills.net web site to make this possible. However, I know I’ll be breastfeeding full time so I’ll just eat a healthy diet (I hope) and hit the treadmill as much as I can. That is, if I can ever find time between taking care of the baby, working and still spend time with the big girl and The Husband.
Planning the baptism / Sandy’s 5th birthday.
See what’s in store for me at work. Will the business boom that I will maintain my current position or do I need to go back to freelancing again? Either way is fine with me.
Christmas with two kids. Oh, how wonderful would that be?
More out of town trips with the family.
See how much we can save before the year ends and know by then if we can start building our home.
Eclipse movie. I know! I hope I won’t pop before June 21st.
Excited to see how our new life / schedule will be now that we have two kids.
Meeting my sideline quota for 2010.
