Lost Bid

I was trying to bid for a design project for industrial supplies last week. The owner was about to choose me except I couldn’t produce any portfolio that is in the same industry. It was too bad because the project was very simply yet he’s willing to pay more because of the time constraints. In short, I didn’t get the project. However, as I was browsing through my old portfolio this morning, I saw not one but two industrial related websites that I designed two years ago. It was still good, considering the age but I guess the project isn’t for me which is why I forgot about the two sites. Maybe it’s also His way of telling me to slow down and rest because who knows how much rest I will get when the baby is here.

Latest Beach Getaway at Punta Fuego

As promised, here are some of our photos from our last beach getaway. We we’re lucky (again) to find that the Punta Fuego house for rent is still available on our desired dates. I was really looking forward to this trip because I’ve been working so hard andĀ  need to cool down pretty bad. This time, we went with the in-laws (MIL’s early birthday celebration) and Chloe, much to Sandy’s delight.

We swam non-stop this time because the weather was perfect and the water was warm. The beach was good too. Although we didn’t swim, just being near the ocean was enough to keep the troubles away. :) There were lots of people swimming on the beach which made me glad that the house we rented had its own pool.

The most important thing from our vacation was that Sandy had the time of her life swimming with her cousin and her parents. It’s so rare that we spend time together without the distraction of iPods, TVs and PSPs. She also had so much fun with her attempts to build a sand castle. In fact, she kept asking me to go to the beach when there’s a very nice pool inside the house already.

More photos by the beach

We really had a blast! I hope we could go back there again soon. Food is very important whenever we travel and thanks to MIL, she bought enough groceries to feed an army. The place was complete with high-end electric grills and kitchen appliances so the home-cooked meals were all good.

New Line of Work

My client wants me to be more involved in the business side of our company. I wasn’t sure about this and when he told me to study business credit reports, I just knew it wasn’t for me. My first love will always be design and anything that has to do with the arts. Even though I’m leaning towards managing designers now, I still get to dabble in design projects, further enhancing my skills. I know I should broaden my horizon and all that but sometimes, there are things that you just know. It will not work for me the same way as marketing and programming will make me want to tear my hair out.

How to Lose Weight in Three Months

My friends had a small competition based from the TV show “The Biggest Loser”. I never thought it was serious but as soon as I saw my friend’s quick weight loss, I was so shocked and happy at the same time. It helped that she’s going to be a bridesmaid to our friend who’s tying the knot in May so she really had to do something. Anyway, according to her, she lost 10KGs by skipping meals. It really shows but I couldn’t help but warn her how unhealthy her diet was. I also kept reminding her that she should start eating healthy now and be serious about going to the gym or else, all the pounds she painstakingly shed will come back so fast she won’t even remember that she ever lost them. She’s a good sport and asked my help to remind and nag her if I can just so she won’t feel lazy and start eating junk as soon as the wedding is over. You bet I will because I just can’t stand to see all her hard (although wrong) work go to waste.

Still Wishing for My Own Work Area

I wish I have unlimited funds so I can buy not just all the baby stuff that I see online but all the office furniture that I need. I’m lucky to have found a very nice looking desk from SM and to inherit a more comfortable chair from my MIL’s office. Still, I would be happy to get a new printer, an on-screen pen tablet, a scanner and a new all-in-one desktop from Dell. While I’m at it, a new office area would be nice too. Just look at this wonderful and spacious office that I grabbed from HGTV.com’s website. The shelves are too die for and that day bed is comfortable enough without making you feel too lazy to work. Plus I could see my two girls playing on that huge space behind the chair so I can still see them from time to time.

Bodysuits from GAP

Oh my! I’m just lovin’ these body suits. Good thing I promised not to shop online anymore or else my Paypal will be empty by now.

Also, thanks to the HELLO BABY garment shop in Bel-air, Makati, we finally purchased tons of frogsuits, onesies, Pjs, snap-on shirts for the little one. Sandy helped us a lot in choosing the designs. I could see she’s as excited as her parents, perhaps even more, to shop and finally see her baby sister. She’s not exactly lonely but nothing beats having someone to play with 24/7.

Furniture Shopping

I should be getting insurance quotes for the new baby but all I want to do right now is window shop for baby furniture. The husband is addicted to it as well, much to my delight. He says we should spend as much time, effort and money on our bambina as we did with Sandy. I have no problem with that! If only money grows on trees, I’d probably buy all these in one day.

I’m addicted to bassinets lately simply because of how adorable they are. It’s a waste of money and space but I see myself positioning the bassinet near my computer and all I have to do is rock her when she wakes up or start to get fussy. I wish!

Things at Home

My mother-in-law is looking into having wireless security systems in her home office. It used to be just an extra office for her but now that she closed her office in Makati, she’ll be working at home full time. With so many important legal stuff stored inside, it’s a must that she have something installed to protect it whenever she’s out of town.

On another note, our extra room is now ready with a bed and mattress. When Sandy saw it, she asked if that’s going to be her room and if so, can I please buy her a “VATINY” table and some jewelry boxes for her accessories? My oh, my. When I told her she can only play inside, not sleep, she threw a ladylike tantrum and wondered when will she ever get her own room so she can sleep on her own. As if! Even now that her bed is located beside ours, she still manages to move and sleep beside me in the middle of the night. When asked why she moved, she’ll say “because I want to embrace you”.

More Insurance

I’m now taking advantage of instant life insurance quote that’s being offered online by several insurance companies. We’re planning to upgrade my package or possibly replace it if we find something better. It wasn’t as lucrative as The Husband’s and with the new baby on the way, we’re thinking of getting something that offers higher return. We’ll also have to get a dollar plan for our baby just like what we did for Sandy. Thinking about all these expenses, not mentioning the hospital bills, baptism and future birthday parties is giving me a headache but I know that it will benefit us in the long run.

Sandy’s Photobooks – Year Two to Four

I can’t believe I finished these three books! Thanks to Aggie’s help and the free credits from Artscow, I had the inspiration and strength to rush them during Holy Week. Paying $23 for three 8×8 photo books is a good enough reason to start. But the thing that drove me the most is that I want these done before I give birth at least. I know that once the baby is here, not only I won’t have much free time to spend in front of the computer but also we’ll have a new batch of photos that will need to be digi-scrapped and printed.
