Desire

image For the past four weeks, I saw three friends raving about htc desire hd. My curiosity was piqued so I checked it out myself. After reading the reviews and seeing the photos, I must admit I’d go for it if only I wasn’t happy with my iPhone. The first time I saw Serena and Blair using a blackberry during Gossip Girls’ first season, I swore I want to have one too. Love how you can type with both hands especially for me who loves to chat and email. But there are so many phones right now that lets you do the same thing. It’s up to you to choose which one you’ll be comfortable with. For me, it’s my iPhone but if HTC Desire is as sensitive to the touch as the iPhone, then it’s definitely a great alternative. After getting used to iPhone’s capacitive touchscreen, I haven’t seen any contender that will make me choose otherwise.

Free Pass at Work

All I have to do today is watch TV with the girls. You read that right! After checking my email and sending some research info about rv repair to my client, I’m officially done. I’d rather say sleep but we know that’s not possible, what with two kids at home. Wish it could be like this everyday but I know I’ll probably get bored and end up being a couch potato. At least when I work, I get so psyched and alert so I don’t feel sluggish the whole day. But yes, I do welcome a not so busy day from time to time so I can spend time with the kids without worrying about work.

Evening Gown for Young Ladies

One of my younger cousins will be attending her first junior/senior prom so I’m helping her look for nice dresses online. We came across these bridesmaid dresses which are also perfect for evening parties and the prices aren’t that bad. She told me evening dresses in the US usually cost $200 and up at their local malls. If only she lives here, I can ask my mom to make her own custom-designed gown. But anyway, here’s what we’re looking at. Aren’t they pretty? Reminds me of my own Junior-Senior prom where I wore the ugliest square pants, which in my defense, was so popular back then!

Happy New Year – Last of the Holiday Roundup series

I know this is late but Happy New year to all of you!

IMG_2634 IMG_2640

We spent our New Year’s eve at Astoria Plaza with my mom, mom-in-law and brother-in-law. I must say it was so relaxing and addicting. No stressing about what to eat, prepare and worrying about the cleaning up after. Plus there were no loud firecrackers to disturb Meg. In fact, she slept after dinner until 2AM when all the fireworks are gone.

Our New year’s eve dinner at Richmonde Hotel was great too. It’s far from Shang’s Circles but definitely a treat compared to what Astoria Cafe was offering at the time. I ate too many creme brulees and all kinds of cakes while at the same time, hoping Meg will not have a problem when she breastfeeds from me after.

One more bonus – great pictures. Thank you, my dear Husband. You know exactly what I want!

It’s my fear that the kids will grow up and wonder where our holiday photos are just because we were too lazy to take pictures. This is why I always make sure that we have lots of photos on every event even if it sometimes causes stress to our photographer, the Husband. :)

New Year’s Day: We had a lovely breakfast the next morning and then another great lunch at Casa Armas with cousin Chloe and family. Perfect way to start 2011 – good food and good company.

That’s it for our Holiday roundup. Like 2010, I know this year will be a blast.

Beanie Hats For All

Two of my friends asked a favor from me today. One is to help her compare healthcare job sites for her research at work while the other was to write about her new business – beanie hats. And since I’m all for fun these days, let’s start with this – Beanie Hats.

From their web site:
Are you a gal or guy looking for uniqueness.  Somebody who wants to show his individuality… a cute way to express yourself by accessorizing your own person in the coolest and own unique way! Are you creative, smart and funny? Are you the life of the party, the crowd attention grabber? or you just like being you? Whatever it is, these beanies are for you. It comes in the various designs that has no limitations.

Beanie hats are hand-made beanies designed and created by my dear friend, Dolly. If you remember the Bad Badtz Maru hat that Sandy wore on one of the pictures, that one was a gift from her. She can do all sorts of designs so if you want something that is not in their web site or FB page, just email her or send her a text message for your own customized beanies. These are great as gifts or souvenirs to your kids’ parties!

Holiday 2010 Roundup – Christmas Dinner / Eve

This year, we decided to just order food instead of my mother-in-law slaving in the kitchen and ending up very tired to enjoy dinner at all. We weren’t able to find a nice restaurant delivery service but luckily, Contis, who only accepts pick-ups was still available.

Photos from our Christmas Eve dinner
My only wish every year is to have a decent family photo. So imagine my frustration when first, Sandy threw a tantrum and 2nd, she and the Husband had allergies so their eyes were both funny looking. Still, when I looked at the photos, I could say that it’s authentic. They are far from perfect but they are exactly who we are. Amazing how finished photos can give you another perspective. Looking at them, I could say I have everything I could ask for.

Just look at Meg and Sandy. They just crack me up with their couldn’t-care-less poses. :)

Man, all I can remember from this shot is how I realized how hard it is to have two kids. And yet if ever I get a chance to do it all over again, I know I wouldn’t change a thing.

Some of the nicer ones.

Already in the mood because she can pose with her cousin Chloe. She also whispered to me “Mommy, I want to give you your wish” which automatically made me feel guilty about throwing a tantrum myself. ;)

Opening of gifts. My favorite part.

Sandy wrote to Santa and asked for Beados. I love how she thanked Santa first before asking for what she wants. She even wrote a letter for Meg too.

IMG_0820 IMG_0819

However, she was worried that she will not get her Pinypons because she didn’t include it on her letter to Santa. Which is why when she saw what her cousin Chloe got (2 Pinypons from us), she shrugged and said, “it’s okay, I know they are Pinypons” in a very adult manner. The Husband told me to give her our gift since we could see that she was struggling not to go to Chloe to check out her pinypons. When she saw the shape of what we’re about to give her, she knew immediately what it was. Which explains the kiss below.

Holiday 2010 Roundup – Christmas Eve

For Christmas eve, since we have a baby (who also had a slight fever the night before) and couldn’t stay out late, we decided to have simple celebrations. We visited my father in Sampaloc then had a pre-Christmas lunch with him. He was very happy to see Meg and Sandy because it’s been a while since they saw each other. Meg, as always, charmed her grandpa while Sandy showed him every game that she likes from her iTouch.

IMG_0903 IMG_0891

After the short lunch, we went to my brother’s house in Banaue. I’m so glad Sandy is big enough to take care of herself. I didn’t have to mind her at all so I was able to get a few minutes rest. She used the videoke with her ate Gabby, played with her scooter and just basically had an amazing time. Meg, on the other hand, was too pumped to sleep as she watched her ate and cousins play. Luckily, her fever didn’t return so she “enjoyed” the festivities as well.

All girls.

IMG_1599 IMG_1600

Sandy had so much fun that she didn’t want to go home. She agreed but only if we take her ate Gabby with us. She said she’s tired of having adults as her playmates, poor her. Good thing cousin Chloe will be spending Christmas Eve at our place so she reluctantly agreed to go home.

To be continued …

Holiday 2010 Roundup – Part I – Meg’s 6th Month / The Husband’s Birthday

December wasn’t just for Christmas or New Year. Two of the highlights of this month were Meg turning 6 months and The husband’s birthday.

Time flies so fast, indeed. I can’t remember Meg being a newborn at all. It seems after her first month birthday, she turned into this chubby little baby that is so easy to take care of (except at night as she still refuses to sleep on her own and never for more than two hours).

IMG_2239 IMG_2264

At 6 months:
She’s starting to crawl even if she couldn’t master sitting up yet. She loves moving on all fours position and rocks herself until she can reach her goal.

She babbles, shouts and has a bit of a temper. Although she is low maintenance, once she needs something, you need to attend to it quickly or all hell will break loose.

She started eating solids. And I don’t want to compare (even if it’s hard since she and her ate are so different) but unlike her Ate who loved eating solids, she she doesn’t seem that crazy about eating. She acts like she wants to but once the food enters her mouth, she grimaces and it took some time before she got used to it.

IMG_1575 IMG_1579

Here’s her ate feeding her and her first attempt at drinking water. She hates it still so we just let her drink water from the spoon.

IMG_2192 IMG_2206

Happy 6th month birthday, Chuba-Meg.

The Husband celebrated his 35th birthday last December too. No out of town trips for us until Meg can sit still in the car. ;)

IMG_0833 IMG_0832

Happy birthday, dear Husband!

I noticed we’ve been doing nothing but eat sweets for the last four months. I may have said goodbye to weight loss diets temporarily but The Husband will definitely need some especially after Christmas! But that’s nothing compared to depriving yourself of good food at this time of the year. It’s the Christmas season, after all! Time for sharing and eating. ;)

Own Space

I was supposed to be shopping for cutting tools but then a twitter alert made me check out a web site for kids furniture. Before Sandy and Meg, I used to wish that I have plenty of funds to buy designer handbags or gadgets. But now, having rooms such as below is the only thing I can think of. Imagine being able to give your kids a room like this? I don’t know about Meg yet but I’m positive Sandy will be over the moon. In fact, having her own room is the only thing she can talk about too. Not that she’d actually sleep in it at night but it’s a nice option to have your own space for playing and studying, don’t you think?
