A Personal Update

So many backlogs! I wish I can blog like I used to but work is more stressful these days and with not just one but two kids to look after, we even find it hard to take photos (except with an iPhone) let alone write. Good thing I managed to finish five photo books. At least, I have no backlogs when it comes to printing photos. We now have books for the kids’ first birthday parties, baptism, family photos and portraits. I am grateful to online friends for pushing me to finish these.

Anyway, my family and I are going to the beach in a few days. I hope it will be relaxing enough that we can forget the bad things that happened lately and look forward to creating happy memories again. I’m not thinking of resting and sleeping since we have a toddler and a high-maintenance, drama queen little girl but at least, I won’t be working and even if they all throw a tantrum, I have the view of the beach to calm me. Here’s to hoping!

Bravo, Varekai!

This is one of the coolest things that happened to me this year. I can still remember how numb my hands were because I couldn’t stop clapping. I even wanted to go on stage, give the acrobats a pat on the back one by one and giddily tell them how much I enjoyed their show. I wanted to shout GREAT JOB!!! on every act but I was afraid my husband and daughter will claim that they don’t know me.

But let’s be serious now. I’ve read plenty of reviews that Varekai in Manila is somehow a bit watered down (no pun intended) compared to their recent performances. I don’t care though because it’s still f#@$% amazing to me! I’ve always wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show and although the ticket prices are too high, I had the convenient excuse of celebrating my birthday. And I’m so glad I did. I can’t believe I’ve ever been this happy – not including my wedding and giving birth to my girls. The Flight of Icarus almost brought tears to my eyes. The way he fell and how his feet resembled falling in slow motion. The sad music as he moves and twists his body inside the net. It seems you could feel his pain and fear when he lost his wings and suddenly find himself in a foreign land.

The first part was great but the 2nd part was purely magical. It’s all I can do not to jump on my seat and shout “OH MY OH MY OH MY!”

Sandy came with us and she loved the show too! She even got sad in the end knowing they are saying goodbye. She is now bugging me to get her a book about Icarus or research YouTube for more Varekai videos. Check out some of the videos here.

If you haven’t seen it, please do! You are giving yourself a huge favor.

Playmat Options

I received an email about mitsubishi galant custom floor mats and I suddenly remembered that I need to buy playmats for the kids. They just love lying down on the floor these days whether reading (Sandy), playing (Both) or wrestling (Meg). We have these huge square rubber mats that you can put together but Meg kept peeling them off so most of them are broken now.

I saw a nice pororo playmat from SM recently but find it too expensive so I didn’t buy it. But now that Meg received some cash gifts, I think it will be fair to get one for her. What do you think? Isn’t it just too cute for words?

The one that I found was much bigger. I was concerned about how slippery it will be so I’ll have to make sure to test it again when we visit the  mall next weekend.

Sandy’s Moving Up Day – Kinder – 2011

We are proud parents, once again. Sandy finished Kinder and got the following awards – Most observant, Best in English and Most Outstanding in class (Kinder). She gave a speech, which would normally make me so nervous but I just know she’ll do a great job and she did. She loves performing and public speaking now (probably got it from me ROFL) so when she went up on stage, all I felt was excitement for her. I was a little sad too that she’s growing too fast, too soon. (You’ll notice that she’s on pigtails. I guess that’s my small way of making her look like a baby.)

Anyway, here are the photos from their Moving Up Day.

During her speech.

She danced Blue Suede Shoes, complete with twists and all. It was obvious that she was doing her best, sometimes even with her eyes closed. Both grandmothers were shouting with glee including yours truly. See the little me below. ;)

Congratulations, Sandy. Again, we are so proud of you!

Happy 8th Month, Meg!

Pardon the late post but she got sick a few days before her 8th month birthday so updating wasn’t really my first priority.

She had fever for three days, been to the ER to find out that she has ear and throat infection then as soon as her fever died down, the rashes started to appear. She had roseola, according to the pediatrician, which is thankfully gone now. It was hard to see our little one not looking like herself -  no smiles, always cranky and feeling weak most of the time.

Her 8th month celebration. No big smiles from our little Meg because of her rashes.

Happy 8th month, Meg! 4 more to go and you’re officially a toddler.

On Video Games

It’s only February and yet the Husband is already planning on what he would like to buy on this year’s Black Friday sale (9 months to go!). He saw a very cool wii game so he’s torn between a PS3 or Wii. I can’t help him decide because I’m not too crazy about video games. But if I have one input, it will be that it has to be kid friendly. After all, we have two girls who will no doubt share some playing time with him.

Speaking of games, I’m actually looking for a Love and Berry game for Sandy. So far, they only have it for DS Lite so I hope Walmart will have another price drop on their DS items. She loved playing with it at Rockwell but you need to have plenty of cards to be able to enjoy. Which is why I’d rather she play with it at home with a DS console. Much cheaper in the long run.

My Two Girls

I just love having two girls! I know I almost cried when the ultrasound showed a “burger” because I wanted to have a boy so bad. But I couldn’t remember that feeling anymore now that we have Meg. It’s like I’ve always wanted to have two girls! Especially when I see them playing together. Sandy loves taking care of her sister even if Meg wants to do nothing but wrestling or jumping on the bed, with her big sister on it.

Looks like we have a fighter in Meg. I’m glad that she is strong because she seems to be rubbing off some of her personality to her Ate who has always been a girly girl. Lately, it’s hard to put them down for a nap at the same time. Meg will be closing her eyes while she breast feeds but then she’ll hear a sound from her Ate which will make her want to wake up and play. On the other hand, when Sandy is about to sleep, Meg will somehow feel this, smile a naughty smile and then crawl all over her ate’s sleepy form. In short, our afternoons are never peaceful. Most of the time, it ends up with me being the bad guy. Which is why I just let them be unless I could see that they are starting to get cranky from lack of rest.

Happy 7th Month Meg!

Since Meg’s 7th month fell on a Saturday, we had a quick lunch at our favorite not-so-crowded restaurant in Rockwell – Kulinarya. Food was great as usual and now that Meg eats solids, she joined us with her mixed veggies and her first taste of Marie biscuits.

I bought her first toothbrush too, which occupied her for a few minutes so we can eat in peace.

Me and Ate Sandy

After some quick shopping, we went home, slept and had another celebration before dinner. I asked the Husband to buy some cupcakes for a change and then we had Sandy arrange them into a one big cake. After putting 7 candles on top, we sang Happy Birthday to our dear Chubameg.

She had colds at the time (every month, actually) so she was a little cranky. Still, it didn’t stop her from exploring and touching the candles.

Ewww!

After touching the icing, she didn’t like it anymore. Just look at her face!

Happy 7th Month to our darling Meg!

Free Pass at Work

All I have to do today is watch TV with the girls. You read that right! After checking my email and sending some research info about rv repair to my client, I’m officially done. I’d rather say sleep but we know that’s not possible, what with two kids at home. Wish it could be like this everyday but I know I’ll probably get bored and end up being a couch potato. At least when I work, I get so psyched and alert so I don’t feel sluggish the whole day. But yes, I do welcome a not so busy day from time to time so I can spend time with the kids without worrying about work.

Evening Gown for Young Ladies

One of my younger cousins will be attending her first junior/senior prom so I’m helping her look for nice dresses online. We came across these bridesmaid dresses which are also perfect for evening parties and the prices aren’t that bad. She told me evening dresses in the US usually cost $200 and up at their local malls. If only she lives here, I can ask my mom to make her own custom-designed gown. But anyway, here’s what we’re looking at. Aren’t they pretty? Reminds me of my own Junior-Senior prom where I wore the ugliest square pants, which in my defense, was so popular back then!
