Happy 8th Month, Meg!

Pardon the late post but she got sick a few days before her 8th month birthday so updating wasn’t really my first priority.

She had fever for three days, been to the ER to find out that she has ear and throat infection then as soon as her fever died down, the rashes started to appear. She had roseola, according to the pediatrician, which is thankfully gone now. It was hard to see our little one not looking like herself -  no smiles, always cranky and feeling weak most of the time.

Her 8th month celebration. No big smiles from our little Meg because of her rashes.

Happy 8th month, Meg! 4 more to go and you’re officially a toddler.

Doing the Potty at 7 Months

Today, I am so proud to say that Meg did number two on the big toilet. She was on cloth diaper this morning because she was about ready to take a bath. When I felt that she was trying to push, I immediately put the baby toilet cushion on top of our toilet and placed her there. I gave her a small toy so her hands will be occupied just in case she wants to touch the toilet (que horror!). She saw comfortably and finished without any problems. She even had a small book at the end and I would’ve taken a photo (to show her when she’s older) but she started moving around. I know it was just luck but I feel like if I do the same every morning, I know I could train her early. The question now is if I can find the time to do it, what with my already limited work hours.

Still, not so bad for my little Chuba who’s turning 8 months next week.

My Two Girls

I just love having two girls! I know I almost cried when the ultrasound showed a “burger” because I wanted to have a boy so bad. But I couldn’t remember that feeling anymore now that we have Meg. It’s like I’ve always wanted to have two girls! Especially when I see them playing together. Sandy loves taking care of her sister even if Meg wants to do nothing but wrestling or jumping on the bed, with her big sister on it.

IMG_3167 IMG_3164

Looks like we have a fighter in Meg. I’m glad that she is strong because she seems to be rubbing off some of her personality to her Ate who has always been a girly girl. Lately, it’s hard to put them down for a nap at the same time. Meg will be closing her eyes while she breast feeds but then she’ll hear a sound from her Ate which will make her want to wake up and play. On the other hand, when Sandy is about to sleep, Meg will somehow feel this, smile a naughty smile and then crawl all over her ate’s sleepy form. In short, our afternoons are never peaceful. Most of the time, it ends up with me being the bad guy. Which is why I just let them be unless I could see that they are starting to get cranky from lack of rest.

Little Athlete

image Note to self: need to get some new outdoor lighting fixtures so the kids can play in the garage when it’s night time. Meg is at the age where staying in one place for more than an hour bores her to bits. So we move from room to room upstairs, living area downstairs and lastly, the garage wherein she can hang out with her ate Sandy.

This little one is so mobile now. She crawls nonstop and if not that, she wants to stand up and cruise towards me (no surprise) as if she can really walk. I do hope she can walk without help before her birthday or at least a month after. We are planning on a much-awaited beach getaway and it will be great if I can leave her in the sand without worrying every minute.

Meg At 7 Monts

At 7 months:

Meg is unstoppable. She crawls, walk/runs with the help of her walkers, loves to kneel and dance, hangs on to anything near so she can pull herself up.

Loves Justin Bieber’s Baby to bits. Even if she’s crying, just play that song and she will be distracted immediately. She dances by waving her hands and kicking her feet which are always in perfect rhythm.

Say “arimunding munding” and she’ll wave her chubby fingers as if dancing the hula.

She calls me mummm or mummmah although it could just be me translating her gibberish words into something that I like. Still, you can always hear her say mummmm if she’s starting to get angry.

She has a temper, which shouldn’t have surprised me (knowing her Papa’s and Ate’s own tempers) but I was shocked the first time she got angry. There’s nothing in the world that could distract her. She has always been such a happy baby that I thought nothing could ever irritate her. I was actually ignoring her cues, knowing she wouldn’t care if she doesn’t get what she wants. I kept missing the fact that she’s not a newborn anymore. She knows what she wants and she wouldn’t stop until she gets it. Either by crying, crawling, or grabbing and wrestling with anything/anyone near her to reach her goal.

Her two bottom teeth are out so she’s also cranky at times. The biting has started too, as if the sleepless nights are not enough!

Speaking of, still no luck on sleeping for more than two hours. I think I’m too accessible for her.

I can leave her for five hours now, thanks to her love for solid foods. :)

Happy 7th Month Meg!

Since Meg’s 7th month fell on a Saturday, we had a quick lunch at our favorite not-so-crowded restaurant in Rockwell – Kulinarya. Food was great as usual and now that Meg eats solids, she joined us with her mixed veggies and her first taste of Marie biscuits.

IMG_1121 IMG_1656

I bought her first toothbrush too, which occupied her for a few minutes so we can eat in peace.

Me and Ate Sandy

IMG_2872IMG_2897

After some quick shopping, we went home, slept and had another celebration before dinner. I asked the Husband to buy some cupcakes for a change and then we had Sandy arrange them into a one big cake. After putting 7 candles on top, we sang Happy Birthday to our dear Chubameg.

IMG_2881 IMG_2882

She had colds at the time (every month, actually) so she was a little cranky. Still, it didn’t stop her from exploring and touching the candles.

Success!

Ewww!

After touching the icing, she didn’t like it anymore. Just look at her face!

Happy 7th Month to our darling Meg!

Holiday 2010 Roundup – Christmas Dinner / Eve

This year, we decided to just order food instead of my mother-in-law slaving in the kitchen and ending up very tired to enjoy dinner at all. We weren’t able to find a nice restaurant delivery service but luckily, Contis, who only accepts pick-ups was still available.

Photos from our Christmas Eve dinner
My only wish every year is to have a decent family photo. So imagine my frustration when first, Sandy threw a tantrum and 2nd, she and the Husband had allergies so their eyes were both funny looking. Still, when I looked at the photos, I could say that it’s authentic. They are far from perfect but they are exactly who we are. Amazing how finished photos can give you another perspective. Looking at them, I could say I have everything I could ask for.

Just look at Meg and Sandy. They just crack me up with their couldn’t-care-less poses. :)

Man, all I can remember from this shot is how I realized how hard it is to have two kids. And yet if ever I get a chance to do it all over again, I know I wouldn’t change a thing.

Some of the nicer ones.

Already in the mood because she can pose with her cousin Chloe. She also whispered to me “Mommy, I want to give you your wish” which automatically made me feel guilty about throwing a tantrum myself. ;)

Opening of gifts. My favorite part.

IMG_2391 IMG_2399

Sandy wrote to Santa and asked for Beados. I love how she thanked Santa first before asking for what she wants. She even wrote a letter for Meg too.

IMG_0820 IMG_0819

However, she was worried that she will not get her Pinypons because she didn’t include it on her letter to Santa. Which is why when she saw what her cousin Chloe got (2 Pinypons from us), she shrugged and said, “it’s okay, I know they are Pinypons” in a very adult manner. The Husband told me to give her our gift since we could see that she was struggling not to go to Chloe to check out her pinypons. When she saw the shape of what we’re about to give her, she knew immediately what it was. Which explains the kiss below.

Happy ate Sandy.

A very Merry Christmas, indeed.

Holiday 2010 Roundup – Christmas Eve

For Christmas eve, since we have a baby (who also had a slight fever the night before) and couldn’t stay out late, we decided to have simple celebrations. We visited my father in Sampaloc then had a pre-Christmas lunch with him. He was very happy to see Meg and Sandy because it’s been a while since they saw each other. Meg, as always, charmed her grandpa while Sandy showed him every game that she likes from her iTouch.

IMG_0903 IMG_0891

After the short lunch, we went to my brother’s house in Banaue. I’m so glad Sandy is big enough to take care of herself. I didn’t have to mind her at all so I was able to get a few minutes rest. She used the videoke with her ate Gabby, played with her scooter and just basically had an amazing time. Meg, on the other hand, was too pumped to sleep as she watched her ate and cousins play. Luckily, her fever didn’t return so she “enjoyed” the festivities as well.

All girls.

IMG_1599 IMG_1600

Sandy had so much fun that she didn’t want to go home. She agreed but only if we take her ate Gabby with us. She said she’s tired of having adults as her playmates, poor her. Good thing cousin Chloe will be spending Christmas Eve at our place so she reluctantly agreed to go home.

To be continued …

Holiday 2010 Roundup – Part I – Meg’s 6th Month / The Husband’s Birthday

December wasn’t just for Christmas or New Year. Two of the highlights of this month were Meg turning 6 months and The husband’s birthday.

Time flies so fast, indeed. I can’t remember Meg being a newborn at all. It seems after her first month birthday, she turned into this chubby little baby that is so easy to take care of (except at night as she still refuses to sleep on her own and never for more than two hours).

IMG_2239 IMG_2264

At 6 months:
She’s starting to crawl even if she couldn’t master sitting up yet. She loves moving on all fours position and rocks herself until she can reach her goal.

She babbles, shouts and has a bit of a temper. Although she is low maintenance, once she needs something, you need to attend to it quickly or all hell will break loose.

She started eating solids. And I don’t want to compare (even if it’s hard since she and her ate are so different) but unlike her Ate who loved eating solids, she she doesn’t seem that crazy about eating. She acts like she wants to but once the food enters her mouth, she grimaces and it took some time before she got used to it.

IMG_1575 IMG_1579

Here’s her ate feeding her and her first attempt at drinking water. She hates it still so we just let her drink water from the spoon.

IMG_2192 IMG_2206

Happy 6th month birthday, Chuba-Meg.

The Husband celebrated his 35th birthday last December too. No out of town trips for us until Meg can sit still in the car. ;)

IMG_0833 IMG_0832

Happy birthday, dear Husband!

I noticed we’ve been doing nothing but eat sweets for the last four months. I may have said goodbye to weight loss diets temporarily but The Husband will definitely need some especially after Christmas! But that’s nothing compared to depriving yourself of good food at this time of the year. It’s the Christmas season, after all! Time for sharing and eating. ;)
