Offers.com Makes Shopping Easier
Maybe it is part of the female genetic code, but I love deal hunting. I have a hard time spending the full price for anything. In fact, it makes me bitter sometimes. I found this site called offers.com and it is a great one-stop-shop site for deal hunters like me. Even cheap college students can find things to spend money on because of the discounts that can be found there. I could have bought my medical books off offers.com! Oh, the things we could take back.
It’s an easy website to use. Imagine not having to coupon clip for hours and only having a limited selection of stores. Too much effort and not enough positive results. Offers.com is nice because I can go there, click the category I want, and it pulls up plenty of options regarding the product I choose.
Money and Health
Just settled our loan from my insurance last week so I don’t have to think about “what could happen if I didn’t pay in time and something happens to me scenario”. Now that we have a new baby, I’m thinking if I should upgrade or get another package. I’d like to take advantage of cheap insurance premiums while I’m young and still only have one kid that goes to school. Maybe next year when we’ve crossed out at least 70% of our scheduled expenses, I can start looking for insurance plans again. My mother-in-law advised against getting an educational plan so maybe we’ll get a pension instead for our little Meg.
A Must for Car Owners
I keep forgetting about getting cheap car insurance quotes for my cousin. Since she got her car four months ago, she’s had two minor accidents, both of them according to her were not her fault. When I asked what the insurance company said, I found out she didn’t have any. I haven’t heard of any car owners that didn’t have insurance so I ordered her to get one immediately. I volunteered to find some affordable quotes so she can choose which one would be perfect for her. Even if her salary couldn’t cover it, I’m sure her dad will shoulder it if she’ll pout prettily.
HDTV Deals
The Husband will be happy to know that there’s a sale on HDTV at Buy.com. This SONY Bravia has an original price of $1,399 but currently selling at $595 from the Buy.com website. It’s a whopping 42% discount – total of $595! I can already imagine what else I can buy from the savings.
Seriously, BUY.COM can make your dreams come true. That is, if your dreams have to do with buying high-ticket items as a very low price.
Health Plans – Online Research
I’m looking for an option for health care for seniors online before I contact any of the local agencies. Which is why I spent half of my morning reading about Medicare part D plans from the Allsup web site. I find it faster this way plus I get to learn about new plans and policies. Knowing what to expect and what to ask makes the process of getting a quote easier. Both the agent and the client can save time by not offering benefits that we don’t need. I’ve learned a lot simply by browsing a resource web site so I recommend it to everyone who’s looking to upgrade or buy a new health insurance.
After this, I will be researching for Meg’s educational or pension plan – whichever gives us the most benefits with the most affordable premium.
Teach Kids to Pay for Things, like DrJays Clothing, on Their Own
You’re not the only one with a stressful life. Managing a home and working too is a common stress that many people share. You hardly have any time for yourself between working, cooking, cleaning, and chauffeuring kids around. Parenting is a stress within itself without all the worries of bills and taking care of your house. There are some things you can do, however, to relieve the stresses of life and find time for yourself.
The first thing you can do to relieve stress is be wise with your money. Don’t spend money on items that are going to break or wear out quickly. Money is a major stressor and if you are wiser about the way you spend it, there will be more of it, which will reduce your stress. This is especially true for things you are going to buy your kids. They do not need to have everything their friends have. Teach your children that if they want something, like DrJays clothing, they should save money to pay for it themselves. This will save you money and teach your kids a valuable lesson in the meantime.
Cash In, Cash Out
Thanks to my non-existent maternity leave, I’m expecting a not so insignificant amount of money at the end of the month. I wonder if I should splurge it on a vacation, a shopping spree or spend it on another type of investment such as gold bullion? I heard gold is doing great these days. In fact, it’s the most stable investment instrument out there compared to paper and stocks. I have to think about this carefully. I do like to invest but we need new clothes (a month’s worth at least) and a vacation so bad too. This is the problem when your funds are limited. Unlike some people I know, we do have to save before we can splurge on high ticket items, making us enjoy our purchases or vacations more because we worked hard for it.
Prepared for the Worst
Talking about funeral costs seems morbid but I’m the type of person who’d rather be ready with inevitable things such as this than have the rug pulled out from under me when I’m least expecting it. Friends who lost their elders talk about how much of a burden it can be financially so why not be prepared when you can? I may sound insensitive to others but I will do this not just for my elders but for myself so my children won’t have to worry about it at all. It’s no different to purchasing an insurance package so your dependents will have something to get by when you leave.
More Insurance
I’m now taking advantage of instant life insurance quote that’s being offered online by several insurance companies. We’re planning to upgrade my package or possibly replace it if we find something better. It wasn’t as lucrative as The Husband’s and with the new baby on the way, we’re thinking of getting something that offers higher return. We’ll also have to get a dollar plan for our baby just like what we did for Sandy. Thinking about all these expenses, not mentioning the hospital bills, baptism and future birthday parties is giving me a headache but I know that it will benefit us in the long run.
Moving and Catching Up
I chatted with a friend through Facebook today. I was so happy that they are finally moving to a bigger place in New Jersey. They need the space very much after having a baby plus they both agreed that raising a kid in a one-bedroom flat isn’t ideal anymore. I asked whether she hired one of those movers but she said they did it themselves and with a help of some friends. Since most of their furniture are for childless couples anyway, they had to sell and start anew. Whatever’s left was transferred back and forth using their 2nd hand SUV. When she mentioned this, I can’t believe how much she hasn’t changed. She’s always been careful with money which is probably why they finally got a nice property of their own.
Personally though, I’d hire a mover because how much would it really take? I’ve tried doing it my friend’s way before and believe me, it wasn’t fun. She said it could get a little expensive so I googled Movers NYC and was not surprised to see plenty of listings that could keep me busy all day. I also came across a site – CityMove.com that lets you post a moving job for free and then receive several bids from competing movers. Then for each bid, you can read reviews and feedbacks, compare the costs and even change details any time. Read more
