Christmas 2011: In Photos
Here’s a quick re-cap of our Christmas in pictures. I never regret nagging the husband when it comes to taking photos. No matter how busy or stressed we are, having our pictures taken is a high priority.
They always come out nice. Which makes you forget all the small holiday-related issues and just focus on the big picture. Pun intended.

The boys.
Megster and the Husband.

My little model. She wasn’t smiling because she said models are supposed to be serious.

Now that’s the Sandy that we know.

Finally, a decent shot of Meg.

Sandy watching her video message from Santa. Priceless.
You can watch it here too.

And the Oscar Should’ve Gone To … (A Movie Themed Christmas Party)
I’m still high from our Christmas party last Saturday night! I see most of these guys monthly but not so much the others who live in the province. To say that it was a great night will be an understatement. We decided to have movies as our theme which was a good call since everyone got so excited to come as their favorite characters.
It was the first time that we got to use our mobile studio outside the house too. I just had to push for that since everyone took extra effort in dressing up. Of that, you will soon see on the photos below.
My friends are just too competitive words! They were all holding out on us – secretive on what they are doing, who they were going as, etc. The party turned out really great which is always the case when you are surrounded with good friends.

US: Cher of Clueless, Elwood of Blues Brothers, Danny Zuko of Grease, Holly of Breakfast at Tiffany’s

These guys are just great. It was indeed, a Merry Christmas to all.
Rockstar Girls
I’m an expert on skipping events to blog. And this post is another evidence of that. However, I just love this photo so much that I just have to share it with you!
See these girls? These are the daughters of my online friends. We met about 5 years ago just by blog hopping and look at us now. Even our kids are now hanging out and having fun together! I just love it. We have playdates now too, not just coffee meet ups. And this coming November 27, we’ll have our annual early Christmas party to celebrate not just Christmas but our anniversary as online friends.
Rock on!

New Entertainment
Have you heard of diabolo? It’s often called a chinese yo-yo, which according to videos looks fun but very challenging to use. The reason I’m asking is I wonder if this is a good alternative to the usual entertainment being offered for kiddie parties. A friend of mine doesn’t want to hire a magician, ventriloquist or acrobats anymore and would like to try something new.
I saw several videos of entertainers doing this and they are just so good! I think people are getting tired of seeing the same entertainment over and over again especially if it’s the same host. Not only that, our circle of friends are the same and we tend to hire the same set of people. It’s getting tricky looking for a new kind of show because it’s not just the kids that you need to entertain but the adults as well. Still, at the end of the day, the kids will enjoy no matter how many times they’ve seen an act if that person is really good.
Meg’s First Birthday – Teaser
Hello! I’m so happy to share with you all Meg’s teaser video from her birthday party. We still don’t have the official photos but this will give you a preview. Thanks to zoombox productions for their great work!
So many stuff that I need to blog soon!
Tired but Happy
Whew! We just finished celebrating Meg’s first birthday party. I’m so happy on how it turned out, thanks to our dear suppliers who made sure everything went perfectly. I do want to blog about it but as usual, my schedule is limited. I still got loads of stuff to do before the week ends – get new life insurance rates, clean up the small room so we can stock the gifts from Meg’s party, quick shopping for other school stuff that Sandy needs and tons of work related to-dos that will never end. I do know that the teaser video will be delivered in a few days so please watch out for that!
Meg’s Wishlist
Hello friends. The Husband will frown for sure on this blog post but most of my friends have been asking me what Meg would like to receive on her birthday. To make it easy for you guys to shop for gifts, here’s her (or should I say my) wishlist.
Please stay away from stuffed toys (unless it’s Pororo the little penguin!), play-doh (we have tons already), beads (too young), small stuff that she might eat.
Any items that has: Pororo, Mickey Mouse
Educational toys or musical toys.
Play pretend toys.
Activity table or anything that she can ride on

Board books. Dr. Seuss, Richard Scarry books. Any books for 0-2 year-olds like:
Beddy-Bye Baby

Pat the Bunny

Books about sisters, mommy, daddy, sleeping.
Clothes for 18-24months. Going out (shirts, jumpers, shorts, leggings, dresses) Sleepwear, house clothes ( tank top, walking shorts, dress )
Big aprons for art stuff, playing and eating.
If in doubt, gift certificates will be appreciated. In fact, we prefer this so we can buy what she wants instead.
But as I’ve said, gifts are not expected.
Taking time to celebrate Meg’s first birthday is more than enough for us. See you!
Last Minute
After designing a banner ad for a ski rack, I feel like I need a break. However, I can’t rest now since Meg will be having her first birthday bash tomorrow. I need to finish printing the stubs, fixing the seat plans and other last-minute party preps so we don’t have to worry about them in the morning. There’s also the cake needing to be picked up and the games and music to be burned so I can give it to the party host tomorrow. Anyway, wish us luck! I’m really excited for Meg (who couldn’t care less) and Sandy (who I know will enjoy it more).
Dakul Christmas 2010
Another early Christmas party this year. It’s barely first week of December and we’ve already attended two Christmas parties. This one was with our old colleagues and now closest friends. I’m glad to see that the family is growing and that all the kids are well behaved! There were more this year and we even managed to find one of our long lost friends. It was so good to see these guys in one room again.
Speaking of rooms, I just love our 2-bedroom in Astoria Plaza. It was huge enough for the kids to run around and lots of seating area for the adults. But maybe that’s because we never really cared if we sit on the floor or table as long as have fun.
These are just some of the photos but you could see that we’re still the same old crazy group.
The party was indeed, a success considering the last minute planning and invitations. The kids didn’t throw a tantrum (although one of them was sick
), the adults were all happy with their gifts from the white elephant game and everyone seemed glad to catch up, laugh and tease even if the food weren’t enough for all of us.
Partying with the Princesses
Bela’s Princess Party – The Creamery
This party was actually for Sandy.
Let’s start with the venue. Since it was a little small if the parents will stay inside, I had to leave Sandy on her own. Good thing she let me, it was her first time too! I tried to check on her from time to timeĀ but during the last part of the party, I saw that she’s doing fine with her friends. So I just let her be while I enjoyed the quiet time chatting with the mommies. Meg, as expected, slept through the party. Such a low maintenance baby! The kids/princesses had so much fun having their hair done, making their own ice cream, watching the magic and puppet show while hoarding tons of prizes, as always!
I’m really glad we went to these parties. Sandy’s having some minor attention issues now that we have Meg so she needs a lot of time outside with kids her own age. We’re also planning on enrolling her to a ballet or art class so she can put some of her energy there.
