Save your Data

Computer crashing is one of the worst things that can happen to someone whose personal and work files were stored. This happens to a lot of people. Most often than not, they never get to retrieve the lost files and had to start from scratch again. But those were the old days. With flashbackdata.com, data recovery is now possible. Flashback Data has a state-of-the-art Class 10 clean room for internal hard disk repair, advanced software to retrieve loss data, damaged partition and OS corruption. Don’t you just feel better knowing this? I do. A damaged hard drive or system crashing is not something that you can predict. One way to prevent data loss is to make sure to keep multiple backups just in case disaster strikes.

All My Books

I keep on forgetting how many books we have including the titles. There was this one time when I bought a paperback without realizing that I already have one at home. So when I stumbled upon this great software that can help me sort out my book collection, I was just ecstatic. It’s called “All My Books” and can be downloaded free for 30 days. What it does is it helps you create your own electronic book collection with a few clicks. Simply fill out one of the fields (book title, author name) and the software will automatically search for the remaining info. You can now organize your books by titles, authors and even add a book cover and synopsis on each and one of them. It can even act as an electronic library using the book sharing manager. And if ever I think about selling some of my books, I can easily export a list in txt or Excel format. This software is definitely what every book collector needs.

Memory Upgrade

My laptop has been running on AC power the last couple of days. So much for being mobile. I thought I could save the battery by giving it a rest but when I tried to recharge it, the power only lasted for 30 minutes. So I’m now shopping for a good computer memory deal online. The site memorydeal.net offers 4GB RAM memory upgrade at $218 the lowest. That would be totally awesome! I can imagine running Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash and multiple browsers without any problems. The site mentioned that it’s important to determine if you’re running 32bit or 64bit version of Windows when upgrading. A 64bit might eat a lot of memory but a 32bit could work with only 2GB. I hope I can find a better memory deal really soon. I need to work outside the room sometimes especially when I’m on a conference call.

All-in-one Protection

I like all-in-one products. Not only you can save money but also makes it so convenient to monitor your computer’s security using just one application. The ESET smart security Suite is one of the coolest products that I’ve found in the Internet. It can prevent, detect and remove malwares like adware, bots, spyware, trojans, viruses and worms anywhere you connect. It has antivirus, antispyware, antispam and personal firewall in one package. My computer’s security is very important to me because it’s my main source of income. If it crashes due to viruses or trojans, my five-year worth of design projects will go with it. Prevention is always better than cure so protecting my computer is always on top of my list.

All-in-One Phone Systems

Most Call Centers struggle with the same phone system problems. These problems were caused by dealing with different vendors for their PBX, call center software application, and other solutions. Not only the prices can get very high but managing applications from different vendors can be very frustrating, not to mention difficult. Xpanders main goal is to eliminate this problem by offering their all-in-one VoIP Call Center Phone Systems package. This phone system provides your PBX, Call Center Software, IVR, CTI, Dialer, and VoiP gateway in one easy to manage server. The system has no proprietary hardware so it’s compatible with many types of phones and applications. It’s simple to administer, has a redundant server ensuring 100% uptime and fully managed, 24/7. The Thing With Portable

… is that they’re not strong enough. My old desktop can handle five graphics software at the same time and still have enough memory to run an online game. My current machine, which is my laptop, can only handle so much PhotoShop, Flash and Ultraedit without freezing IE. To think that I’ve already upgraded my memory to 1GB. Notebook memory doesn’t come cheap you know. Which is why the old DELL laptop still sits unused. I am not spending any more money on another Dell Memory just because my main machine is too weak to handle all my graphics software.

Speeding?

Radar detectors are so popular these days. I guess you can attribute it to the fact that there were so many mistaken identities lately. There’s also the latest issue that radars and lasers are not just for safety anymore. A cost of a single ticket can add up to thousands of dollars so the more ticket given, the bigger the revenue. If you’re interested to purchase one, there are several radar detector reviews that you can browse through online to fully understand about detection ranges and distances.

Portable DVD player

I’ve been wanting to buy a portable DVD player mainly because it has been getting harder to distract the little one these days. Plus, I saw this young couple in Baguio watching Dora with their baby girl while they were eating dinner. It just shows how helpful it can be especially if you’re planning to bring the kids on a long car ride.

Anyway, I came across this portable 10 inch DVD player at digitalframez.com and it’s currently on sale at $239. It has a rechargeable battery pack that allows 4 hours continuous play time. I like the sleek design (I’ve always hated bulky gadgets) and compatible with all kinds of CDs from DVD, MP3, MP4, VCD, DIVX, etc. This is important to me so I can watch my burned TV shows as well. With its high quality LCD monitor, anti shock suspension and built-in surround sound effect speakers, it’s definitely a steal for its price.

HiTechBlogger

I came across a technology blog this morning and was instantly hooked reading the posts. He covers a broad array of topics from cool websites, latest phones, home theaters, ipods, gaming gadgets and some technology news and reviews. I love reading blogs such as this because you get first hand reviews from people who actually tried and bought the product. I especially enjoyed the article A Couple of Tips for Computer Users because even if I’m a heavy Internet user, I admit that I still have loads of things to learn when it comes to tweaking my PC or boosting my Internet connection.

Visit the site here and you might learn a thing or two.

Online File Sharing

My client recently tried to send me a huge file on my pop email account. Even though the limit of my email is quite big, she said her email kept on bouncing back. I wasn’t sure if it was my email provider’s fault or hers but I didn’t have time to solve it. I remember about my post for Driveway and decided to try it out. Using Driveway’s free online file sharing service, we were able to share files with a total of 350MB in size. What I also liked about Driveway is their new option wherein you can edit files directly from the Driveway System. Instead of sending traditional link files, you can click on the button that says “Send Files for Edit”. This will allow you to download the Driveway Edit Widget so you can open and edit the file directly or just save it to your local system.

My very smartphone

I’ve been neglecting my blog. With good reason, of course. Just bought myself a Nokia E65 last Sunday and I’ve been pre-occupied with installing softwares and games ever since! I was planning to get N80 but learned that it has been phased out so I got this one instead.

I love everything about this phone (so far). I can check my emails, browse my favorite sites, blog and check out paid posts using Wi-Fi, take nice photos and read ebooks. Plus, I was able to download lots of games - sudoku, poker, othello, monopoly and tons of chic lit and HP ebooks. Yay! There’s a huge world out there that I wasn’t aware of until I bought this phone. Style really meet Substance as the slogan goes.

There’s so much stuff that I can do in this small gadget. And did I mention that I was able to view PPP opps in the middle of the night? I don’t have to get up and turn on my laptop anymore. All I have to do is lie down, relax, and try to open my eyes while loading the page of PPP on my phone.

Just like what my little girl says, “It’s amazing!”

Saving For the Rainy Days

With the typhoon season coming, I can’t help but worry about power outages just like last September 2006. We didn’t have electricity for a week and my work suffered terribly. Even if I can work in an Internet cafe, all my files are in my bulky desktop so there’s no way that I can lug it around with me. I learned my lesson the hard way. This time, I’ll definitely take advantage of IBackup’s online storage and backup services. I like how I can map a drive or a folder on my computer so I can easily drag-n-drop, open, edit and save my files to my online backup account. It uses 128-bit SSL so I feel safe about transferring private files and important numbers. It also allows file transfer resumption just in case I lose my Internet connection, which is not unusual considering our DSL quality. I’ll schedule this every week so I can make sure that all my data are updated.

Space Savers

I’ve had my own experience of overcrowded classrooms during my public school days. It wasn’t pleasant trying to find a space for your chair let alone get comfortable. In Los Angeles, the class sizes of primary and secondary schools are also increasing so they are always on the lookout of maximizing space for each student. Versa Products, Inc., a Los Angeles based manufacturer of office furniture came up with Adjustable Classroom Tables. These slim computer carts have a size of 24” wide x 72” in length and furnished with LCD monitor arms. LCD monitor arms are attached to the back of the computer monitor so you can put it someplace else other than the desktop. It rotates and tilts allowing others to see your screen without having to get up. The innovative adjustable tables also have shelves under the desk so students can put their books or backpacks thus maximizing their personal space.
