The Red Sole

The first time that I saw a pair of christian louboutin shoes was from Katie Holmes.

She loves them so much that she even had a custom-made pair for Suri. So fab but such a waste considering toddlers grow feet like every week. Here’s another photo of Katie wearing a pair of patent mary janes-type of flats.

Would you believe something as simple could cost $525? Still, some people just can’t resist that trademark red sole which is why these shoes sell like hot cakes.

Seek and Destroy

Maybe I didn’t do things the right way, but I tried finding out how the keywords “weight loss products” ranked as far as last year’s top search terms went, and was surprised to find that it didn’t do too well. I wasn’t expecting this, what with how more health-conscious people have become as of late. Looking at some of the top searches, however, reveals why diets took a back seat last year: Michael Jackson, stimulus package, Obama, climate change, and Jon & Kate Gosselin. Heh.

Reduce Pains With Prohibited Substance?

I saw an episode of Desperate Housewives last week and one of the scenes caught my interest. Lynette, one of the housewives, has cancer and just finished having chemoteraphy. To reduce her pain and nausea, her mom baked some brownies and sneaked in some marijuana in it. The result? She became alert and felt so good that she managed to join her friend’s party. Now I wondered if that’s really the case so I went to ever trusted Google and stumbled upon a listing for Medical Marijuana Colorado.

According to the site, medical marijuana has been legal in Colorado since 2000 when Amendment 20 was passed which authorizes the use of marijuana strictly for the following:

  • Alleviate medical conditions like HIV/AIDS positive, cachexia
  • Reduce severe pain, nausea, seizues
  • Reduce muscle spasms including those of multiple sclerosis.

The Amendment 20 lets a patient or caregiver who were given a Medical Marijuana Registry identification card to possess no more than two ounces of marijuana and not more than 6 marijuana plants.

Another interesting tidbit that I came across while researching online was that even if there are established medical value of marijuana use, doctors are permitted to prescribe cocaine and morphine, but not marijuana.

TV Guidelines for your Toddlers

Unless you consider not watching TV when it’s night time, TV guidelines don’t really exist in our house. Sandy knows when to stop watching anyway and most of the time, she just likes it turned on as she likes having the sounds from her favorite shows in the background while she plays or draws. (definitely a No-No according to tip #3)

If you want some guidelines though, check out this list from Baby Center:

Two hours a day of TV watching should be enough. More than that may cause his brain to go autopilot. You can also choose do a few ten to 15-minute breaks just to prevent this.

Don’t tell your child that you have a TV time guideline. Let him or her tell you when he wants to watch. If it’s still under the maximum time, then let him enjoy his favorite shows.

Make the TV set unavailable.

Too often, television is a backdrop to family life: It blares away in the den or great room while the kids are playing, Mom’s cooking, or the family is eating. Consider putting the TV in a small, out-of-the-way room in the house (on the second floor, if you have one). Another way to keep the TV from being front and center: Keep it in a cabinet that remains closed when the TV is off.

Having said all that, especially to those who work from home like me, I don’t think strict TV guidelines is needed as long as we keep our kids talking and having fun while they’re watching. I always ask Sandy what the characters are doing and even make up small problems so she can think of a solution. She loves the word “brainstorn” (brainstorm) by the way and would always ask my help whenever she needs to come up with an idea.

Last Cup

beach_cp.jpgPardon this post. I just feel sad.

It’s over. Waaaaaaahh.

I tried to watch it really slow but last night, I just can’t take the suspense anymore and watched it till the end. What can I say? I just love this show. I never really liked Koreanovelas except this one. I enjoyed each scene with Choi Han Kyul and Go Eun Chan. They have an amazing chemistry even when Chan was pretending to be a boy. And gosh, the first real kiss is just soooooo sweet not mentioning the love scene ala The Notebook. Hay. It really made me sad last night up to now. I don’t think there will be a season 2 anytime soon because the love of my life will be joining the army.

Now I have nothing to look forward to. Well, except the Coffee Prince DVDs that I ordered online. LOL. I hope this one has better subtitles so I can finally understand what’s going on. I’m even planning on buying his other movies :)

Gawd, I will miss Gong Yoo. Huhuhuhuhu. I feel like a lovesick fool. I’m sure Alpha and Aggie can relate to my misery.

My 12th Cup

I just finished my 12th Cup of Coffee Prince over the weekend. I got sick because of this and I’m still a bit lightheaded up to now. Aggie’s right, 9-12 I believe are the most important episodes. And just my luck, the subtitles decided to mess up on episode 11. I have no idea what they were talking about anymore. All I did was guess and translate the words as much as I can. It’s frustrating because it was the episode where Choi Han Kyul found out about Go Eun Chan’s identity. There were a lot of hateful words and crying (Gong Yoo is so hot everytime he cries) and explaining. As much as I find the beach episode sweet and sad, I still find it a bit weird because he’s falling for a “guy”. That weirdness went away when Choi Han Kyul said “I like you. I don’t care if you’re a man, I don’t even care if you’re an alien. I don’t care anymore. Let’s take this as far as we can go.” Wahhhhhh.

If you can’t relate, watch it!!!! You won’t regret it hahaha. I saved so many screenshots that I can’t keep track where I got them.

These I believe I got from their official site.

Gosh, Gong Yoo looks soo good whether he’s crying or laughing.

Unable to Move

I’m so lazy right now. All I want to do is watch Coffee Prince waaaaaah.

I’m in trouble. I should stop watching. The little girl has colds yesterday so all she wanted to do was nurse or be carried. I took advantage of the hours away from my PC and watched Coffee Prince while Sandy is nursing or sleeping.

Sandy loves it too, btw. When we’re not watching, she’ll tell me, “mommy you watch coffee prince, I’ll watch soda prince”.

Hayyyy.

One More Chance

Should I watch it? I can ask my mom to watch it with me because I’m not sure if The Husband will come with me if asked LOL. I don’t want to get disappointed though. I usually just watch Tagalog movies in DVDs because face it, some of our movies lack in quality, most of them being copied from Hollywood movies. Anyway, we’ll see. I started liking the love team of JL and Bea when I saw them from the Maging Sino Ka Man telenovela. Since then, I’ve been watching all their movies on CINEMAONE and find that I really enjoy all of them. I guess it’s because they have nice chemistry unlike TJ (my super crush) and Kristine Hermosa from their telenovela whose name escapes me right now (maybe because it sucked real bad).

Nip n’ Tuck

The Husband and I watched a show last night about Hollywood plastic surgeries. I’m not against it, in fact, I have a few body parts that I would like to enhance if given the money. Still, the things those women did to their bodies make me feel sorry for them. I don’t know exactly if it’s their faces that remind me of living dolls or the way their lips part slightly when they talk. They seem to move very slowly, probably from fear of messing any work done on their faces and bodies. And I guess you probably don’t want to hear about the scene where they showed how a liposuction is being done. I also learned that Botox is not just for wrinkles anymore. There are Botox for headaches, sweating, treating overactive bladders and more.

Portable DVD player

I’ve been wanting to buy a portable DVD player mainly because it has been getting harder to distract the little one these days. Plus, I saw this young couple in Baguio watching Dora with their baby girl while they were eating dinner. It just shows how helpful it can be especially if you’re planning to bring the kids on a long car ride.

Anyway, I came across this portable 10 inch DVD player at digitalframez.com and it’s currently on sale at $239. It has a rechargeable battery pack that allows 4 hours continuous play time. I like the sleek design (I’ve always hated bulky gadgets) and compatible with all kinds of CDs from DVD, MP3, MP4, VCD, DIVX, etc. This is important to me so I can watch my burned TV shows as well. With its high quality LCD monitor, anti shock suspension and built-in surround sound effect speakers, it’s definitely a steal for its price.
