Future Driver, Not Me.
One of the main reasons why I don’t like to drive is because of a lack of breakdown service here. I see a lot of people, not just women stranded in the middle of the road or worse, middle of nowhere just because help is never on the way. I’d rather pay money than be stranded with the kids and be clueless on what I should do. I’ve always believed in the goodness of people myself. That someone will always be willing to help but based from what I’ve seen lately, it’s a little scary when it’s night time and you have men surrounding your car offering their assistance. You just never now who you can trust. But I digress. I will TRY to learn how to drive. But to actually drive, I don’t think that’s something I can promise. No matter how many times that husband will nag on me about it.
New Entertainment
Have you heard of diabolo? It’s often called a chinese yo-yo, which according to videos looks fun but very challenging to use. The reason I’m asking is I wonder if this is a good alternative to the usual entertainment being offered for kiddie parties. A friend of mine doesn’t want to hire a magician, ventriloquist or acrobats anymore and would like to try something new.
I saw several videos of entertainers doing this and they are just so good! I think people are getting tired of seeing the same entertainment over and over again especially if it’s the same host. Not only that, our circle of friends are the same and we tend to hire the same set of people. It’s getting tricky looking for a new kind of show because it’s not just the kids that you need to entertain but the adults as well. Still, at the end of the day, the kids will enjoy no matter how many times they’ve seen an act if that person is really good.
Back to Blogging Again!
Watch out for my next updates. I’ve gotten so used to Windows Live Writer that when I switched to Mac, I just lost the will to update.
But thanks to Mars Edit, I can now update all my personal blogs again with just one app. No need to open all of them in several tabs. If only they have the same feature as LW wherein you can easily drag and drop photos to publish them – I’d be over the moon. But anyway, talk to you soon!
Making Music
I got the perfect gift for the special person in my life. No, I can’t say who it is because he reads my blog but he’ll probably guess since the gift is a music production software. I’d love to get him an Apple Logic Studio which is a complete set of professional digital audio applications for writing, recording, editing, mixing, and performing your music. However, which is always the case, it’s just too expensive for me. The Cakewalk Sonar is half the price of Apple Logic so that would be a good option. Anyway, after thinking (or writing) about it, I’ll probably ask him directly which one he prefers as I have no idea which is the better software.
Early Inspiration
Looking at photos of steel buildings this morning gave me the inspiration that I need to come up with a new design. It’s for a website that we’re redesigning and it needs to have a techie look with modern and clean lines and shiny surfaces. I have an idea now which I will draw first before putting it into my computer. This made me wish that I have the latest Wacom tablet so it can automatically transform my sketches into vector format. It will definitely save me a lot of time so I can work on other projects as well. But anyway, it’s four months more till Christmas so I’m giving my friends time to save up for my present.
A Personal Update
So many backlogs! I wish I can blog like I used to but work is more stressful these days and with not just one but two kids to look after, we even find it hard to take photos (except with an iPhone) let alone write. Good thing I managed to finish five photo books. At least, I have no backlogs when it comes to printing photos. We now have books for the kids’ first birthday parties, baptism, family photos and portraits. I am grateful to online friends for pushing me to finish these.
Anyway, my family and I are going to the beach in a few days. I hope it will be relaxing enough that we can forget the bad things that happened lately and look forward to creating happy memories again. I’m not thinking of resting and sleeping since we have a toddler and a high-maintenance, drama queen little girl but at least, I won’t be working and even if they all throw a tantrum, I have the view of the beach to calm me. Here’s to hoping!

Cup of Coffee A Day
It’s still too early to be researching about gusher pump. I haven’t had my daily dose of caffeine yet plus I couldn’t forget my bad dream that is relatively close to being a nightmare. Working is the last thing on my mind, let alone helping clients with their research when all they have to do is use Google. Pardon the mini-rant though. Like I said, I need coffee so bad. And I wouldn’t mind drinking something as creative as these:

Loving Your Career
Thanks to the number of Database Designer Jobs, my friend, who had no choice but to leave her crappy company found a new loving work family. She’s just so in love with her new company that it’s all she can talk about. I’m very happy with my current work situation which is why I want everyone around me to be happy in what they do. We can’t all have our dream jobs but a nice, comfortable working environment can definitely make up for it even if we’re not exactly crazy at what we’re doing for a living. A happy employee will work far better than a disgruntled one, after all.
Small Talk
One thing that you can’t talk to me about is auto parts. So when you mention curt hitches in a conversation while I’m still trying to wake myself up after being waken up every hour by a 16th month old toddler, expect a ‘HUH’ moment. Talk to me about fashion, shopping, parenting, travel and computers however and I’d be all ears. No matter how tired or sleepy I am, I will have answers for you. Having said that, I need to do some window online shopping before I work just to get some creative juices flowing.
Bravo, Varekai!
This is one of the coolest things that happened to me this year. I can still remember how numb my hands were because I couldn’t stop clapping. I even wanted to go on stage, give the acrobats a pat on the back one by one and giddily tell them how much I enjoyed their show. I wanted to shout GREAT JOB!!! on every act but I was afraid my husband and daughter will claim that they don’t know me.
But let’s be serious now. I’ve read plenty of reviews that Varekai in Manila is somehow a bit watered down (no pun intended) compared to their recent performances. I don’t care though because it’s still f#@$% amazing to me! I’ve always wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show and although the ticket prices are too high, I had the convenient excuse of celebrating my birthday. And I’m so glad I did. I can’t believe I’ve ever been this happy – not including my wedding and giving birth to my girls. The Flight of Icarus almost brought tears to my eyes. The way he fell and how his feet resembled falling in slow motion. The sad music as he moves and twists his body inside the net. It seems you could feel his pain and fear when he lost his wings and suddenly find himself in a foreign land.
The first part was great but the 2nd part was purely magical. It’s all I can do not to jump on my seat and shout “OH MY OH MY OH MY!”
Sandy came with us and she loved the show too! She even got sad in the end knowing they are saying goodbye. She is now bugging me to get her a book about Icarus or research YouTube for more Varekai videos. Check out some of the videos here.
If you haven’t seen it, please do! You are giving yourself a huge favor.
